The only way the “clean energy” mode of civilization is going to work, is if ....
... over the next 40 years, as we replace our aging power plants and cars and industrial processes, we replace them with best clean energy version that is available based on the technology at that time. Then in the following 40 years afterward, we do the same thing again.
So it will take 80 years or so.
I note a greenie recently proposed that we build 1 million 3 MW windmills and place them on the ocean. Well, that proposal would cost $5 trillion (or more like $10 trillion if you want to spend enough to replace all our electricity generation capacity.)
Obviously, we are not going to spend $10 trillion or more than 100% of the world GDP replacing all our energy generation plant in a few years. But over the next 40 to 80 years, that is about the amount the world will spend replacing power plants and cars and factories. So, it can work, just not on the green’s ridiculous timeframe.
