OK, I am checking the points I made against another site. The site this time is here.

Further details as they develop.

ding_dong, thanks for the sharp eyes and pointers.

Cheers!

Thanks. Don’t trust any draft that doesn’t say “Z visa.”

The section on 501 (backlog) remains the same.

The section on 225 (drunk drivers) has no change. It says
"...including a
12 third drunk driving conviction, regardless of the States in
13 which the convictions occurred or whether the offenses are
14 classified as misdemeanors or felonies under State law,’’
15 after ‘‘offense)’’.
16 (b) EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendment made by
17 subsection (a) shall—
18 (1) take effect on the date of the enactment of
19 this Act; and
20 (2) apply to convictions entered on or after
21 such date.

Section 228 (Protecting Immigrants from Convicted Sex Offenders) is still there.

And BTW, it just occurred to me that this might be there to help cut down on human trafficking, or the rape of immigrants by coyotes and such.

But in that case, it could at least ask for a "Good Neighbor" helping hand from Mexico to check for an immigrant's conviction record in Mexico...

Section 229 on the Local Authorities still has the

">`(b) Construction- Nothing in this section shall be construed to require law enforcement personnel of a State or a political subdivision to assist in the enforcement of the immigration laws of the United States..

So Sanctuary Cities are still A-OK. And the funding is still $850,000,000 per year, less than a billion.

Section 643 on the $500 dollar grants to learn English is still there.

Section 231 on removal of Erroneous Information from the National Crime Information Center is still there.

The prohibitions on employers using the verification system (Section 305) are still present.

Section 505 (Shortage Occupations, Nurses) is still there, fortunately including the good stuff.

Section 508 still covers advanced degrees, the 3-year window is still there, as is the cap at 115,000 per year, as is the 20% annual hike.

Section 218, the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program is there too. As is the dollar amount allocated.

So, it looks like the stuff I brought up is still in the latest draft of the bill.

Thanks for pointing it out!

NO cheers, unfortunately.
