Meanwhile, Republicans' chief negotiator in the closed-door sessions, Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, wrote a column for the Arizona Republic newspaper yesterday saying he won't support the bill if major changes are made during the floor debate. "If the consensus we reach is not accurately reflected in the final legislative language, or is seriously undercut by amendments in the Senate or House, it will lose support, including from me," he wrote. Excellent. Kyl already planning an exit strategy from his own turkey legislation.

Maybe someone can help me out here.
If less than 20 support it, and 40 are not even ready to commit, how do they have a deal?

I am calling again Monday. Most of my relatives will be calling too. We must NEVER let up the heat on the traitors. I have never in my life been so disappointed with our leaders in government. They must laugh at us behind closed doors. We should no longer be talking of a “fence” along the border. We need to talk of an impregnable wall. We cannot allow our beloved Republic to be destroyed because a socialist hell hole south of us doesn’t want to reform. We would be condemning our children to a socialist hell if we don’t turn by the traitors in Congress.

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them.

I was wrong, they laugh at us right in front of our faces. I can’t wait to get up calling... I don’t trust our leaders to do the right thing, unless they really feel the heat..

Calling it a deal is political chicanery of the highest order.

I like the WA Times, but I don’t buy their numbers. Unless the public outrage reaches Old Testament levels, I would bet over 60 senators vote for this turkey.

a result of the fact that the deal was written in secret by a dozen senators and the Bush administration, wasn't even finalized until yesterday and still hasn't reached many Senate offices.Sounds like the damned old soviet polit bureau at work. A few telling the rest how it's gonna be.

We can always count on
Sheets . He singlehandedly killed the immigration bill in 2002. One of him is worth a phalanx of spineless Republicans.
"This amnesty plan is no fairy tale -- it is a bad dream," Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia said.

They have been hearing from some pretty damn angry people. They are going to find a way out of this bill somehow.
