PLO expresses support for Lebanese army

BEIRUT, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) representative in Lebanon Abbas Zaki on Monday pledged "cooperation" with the Lebanese state and its army to wipe out the militants fighting with the army in a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon.

After talks with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora at the Grand Serail (the premier's office) Monday, Zaki stressed the need to enhance "full cooperation" with the Lebanese state and its army to resolve what he termed Fatah al-Islam's "phenomenon."

Some 30,000 displaced Palestinians live at the camp. Under a 38-year-old deal, Lebanese police and soldiers can not enter the camp.

Seniora had been negotiating a break of the rule and seeking to get into the camp to wipe out the Islamic militants.

Zaki said he left it up to Seniora to decide whether to send the army into the camp, but warned that "entering the camp does not mean it will be easy to get rid of this phenomenon."

"We are open... to all the demands of the Lebanese state. We hope to cooperate in order to eliminate the Fatah al-Islam phenomenon, on the condition innocent civilians do not pay a high price," said Zaki.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.........

The PLO (now the PA) turned Lebanon into a battleground during their stay there, before the Israelis evicted them in the 80's. I expect this is more empty talk from the PA.

The PLO/PA doesn’t want any more competition than it already has (HAMAS, et al) If their Hezbollah cousins get kicked out of Lebanon, they will move in with HAMAS. So the logical thing is to cooperate with Lebanon and hope they exterminate the leadership there, so they won’t have to do it in GAZA..........

Sometimes this internal warfare amongst Pali and other Islamic terrorist groups is difficult to follow. Perhaps that’s because they’re so insane and they’ll change loyalties at any time. But their “civil wars” can only reduce the terrorist population, so they have to be looked at as beneficial for Western civilization.

Hamas is a Sunni group, Hezbollah is a Shia group.

It’s only a matter of time.

Hamas is a Sunni group, Hezbollah is a Shia group.

I wonder if they disagree and start fights with each other just because the other guy lives on the ODD numbered side of the street vs the EVEN numbered sides?

Well lets just stand back and let them kill each other off, that way there are less of them to bother USA and Israel afterwards.

PLO supports the army because they want to control the camp (and rip off the UNRWA/EU money).
