Iraq's military is drawing up plans on how to cope with a quick US military pullout, the local defence minister says.
On Monday, Defence Minister Abdul-Qader al-Obeidi told reporters that Iraq's military was drawing up plans in case US-led forces leave the country quickly.
"The army plans on the basis of a worst case scenario so as not to allow any security vacuum," al-Obeidi said. "There are meetings with political leaders on how we can deal with a sudden pullout."
It was unclear whether al-Obeidi was referring to routine contingency planning or reflected a new realisation among Iraqi leaders that the days of American support may be numbered.
Nonetheless, a White House spokesman said President George W Bush expressed confidence in al-Maliki during a telephone call Monday to the Iraqi leader.

Sounds like wishful thinking on AP’s part, although it would be a good idea for 2008.

The AP couldn’t bring itself to call a spade a spade. Iraq planning for Democrats in America cutting and running (as predicted and thus no flowers for our arrival).

Sounds like good planning. Our rodent leadership has made plain their intention to abandon our Iraqi allies.

Sounds as if the Iraqi government has finally figured out that with the Democrats in the saddle they don’t have a chance.

If it was left to the US, Saddam and Co. would be indefinitely receiving their health care in Gitmo (and Michael "The Lard Ass" Moore says it's much better than the average Americans have). The Iraqis were more pragmatic.
So if the pullout really occurred, I hope the Iraqis will stop tiptoeing with the terrorists and just kill them off.

The only way we should be leaving Iraq quickly is if the destination is Iran, after a suitable 100 day “softening up” process by the USAF and USN, with a little help from our Brit friends, and maybe even the French now that they have their country under new management.
