US Manager at Tengizchevroil Found Dead in Kazakhstan by Kadyr Toktogulov Dow Jones Newswires Tuesday, May 22, 2007

ALMATY, Kazakhstan, May 22, 2007 (Dow Jones Newswires) Chevron Corp.-led (CVX) Tengizchevroil, or TCO, said Tuesday its employee Peter Tabarini was found dead in the Ural River near the town of Atyrau in western Kazakhstan after apparently drowning.

Tabarini, a native of New York, U.S., has been missing since May 13 and his body was found Tuesday without any signs of violence, a TCO spokesman said.

Tabarini had worked for Texaco and then Chevron since 1989 in various auditing and finance roles and assumed the role of deputy manager for internal controls at TCO in 2001, the company said in a statement. TCO operates the giant Tengiz field, producing around 300,000 barrels of oil a day. It is the largest U.S. investment in Kazakhstan and a major source of budget revenue.

However, it is an intermittent source of political tension and witnessed a serious labor unrest between Kazakh and non-Kazakh workers last year.

It is 50% owned by Chevron, while ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM) has 25%, KazMunaiGas has 20% and LukArco has 5%.

Has anyone else noticed the increase of deaths recently by various “interesting non-soviets” in the soviet region lately? This is disturbing and I would bet NOT AN ACCIDENT!

“Found Dead” - Ah yes...amazing, worth pondering - Truly the one and only fate shared by every living thing. And, everybody’s got to be dead someplace, why not the Ural River?

Drowning was a KGB era way of disposing of people.

Predates the KGB. That's how they finally got rid of Rasputin after the poison and gunshots didn't get the job done.
