Wow, they admitted he’s a Dem by the sixth paragraph - is that a record?

I just did a news search on James Metzen and then did a find [Ctrl F] on the word Democrat on each article. You must have picked just about the only one that listed him as a Democrat.

First offense in a DUI in CA costs about $10,000 and a nasty gram from M.A.D.D.

Friends don’t let friends drive drunk. Do you think Democrat political pooh bahs have friends? Probably, not just mercenary minions.

“seven-term senator”

I believe our founding fathers would have set term limits if they foresaw these professional politician’s of today. What they created was a little government with no power so never saw the level of deceit here today. Just one more spin around the coffin George.

If this had been a Republican, this is how the story would read......

Saint Paul, Minn. (AP) — The REPUBLICAN president of the Minnesota Senate was arrested on drunken driving charges early Tuesday just a few minuets after he slurred the 2007 session to a close.

James Metzen the REPUBLICAN was stopped in his Gas Guzzling sport-utility vehicle around 2 a.m. after an officer observed him weaving and endangering innocent women and children in his lane, said South St. Paul Police Chief Michael Messerich said. The Drunken REPUBLICAN was arrested less than a mile from his Rich Bastard house.

He was given a field sobriety test, was found to be falling down Drunk and was arrested. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.15 percent, almost twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent. He faces two misdemeanor charges, including fourth-degree driving while impaired. We were informed that there is little hope that he could face the death penalty because it isn’t allowed in the state.

“Sen. Metzen the REPUBLICAN was given no special treatment,it is unknown if the REPUBLICAN requested any special treatment,” Messerich said. “He was treated like anyone else who was falling down drunk.”

Metzen, 61, a seven-term REPUBLICAN senator from South St. Paul, told officers that he had many many drinks, Messerich said.

Metzen, a REPUBLICAN, . . .

The senator's party affiliation (democRAT) doesn't appear til the 6th paragraph.

If he had been a Republican, the headline would have read: "Minn. GOP Lawmaker Arrested, Charged"

” early Tuesday just hours after he gaveled the 2007 session to a close. “

Just hours after a drunken spending spree the Governor Pawlenty(R) is supposed to veto.

The local news in Minneapolis did a piece last year or the year before on legislators drinking at the capitol during session. Guess that didn't stop them, they're so arrogant.

No wonder they get so loosey goosey with our money. The drunks. And to think they had the nerve to pass a state no-smoking bill. Truly elitists.

Metzen has drawn previous attention over alcohol. In 2004, KMSP-TV, Channel 9, aired a hidden-camera report on drinking at the Capitol. At one point, a DFL House member and lobbyists were captured on film drinking in Metzen’s office. The report never showed Metzen with a drink.” Source: Star Tribune, May 22, 2007

He must have been driving on Concord - That street is such a speed/DUI trap. I have almost never been on that road and NOT seen a police cruiser or three.
