U.S. House Committee Hearing on Comprehensive Immigration Reform
http://judiciary.house.gov/oversight.aspx?ID=327 ^ | May 22, 2007 | Rosanna Pulido

May 22nd, 2007

Mr. Chairman and Members of the Subcommittee:

Thank you for the opportunity to appear today and to discuss the critical importance of Immigration Law Enforcement.

I am Rosanna Pulido, an active member of You Don't Speak For Me. We are American Hispanics speaking out on illegal immigration because, contrary to popular belief, a sizable number of Latinos oppose the recent protest marches and strongly objects to illegal immigration.

But our voices have largely been muffled by the protests in Chicago , Los Angeles and other cities nationwide and by journalists and the mass media that absolutely refuses to report the story of law abiding American Hispanics. Instead, the media would rather focus on the Latinos who are breaking our laws and paint them as helpless victims.

Members of You Don’t Speak for Me American Hispanics against illegal immigration do not want comprehensive immigration reform, but we do want immigration law enforcement. Americans have learned that "comprehensive" means unlimited amnesty, a greater flow of immigrants into the country and the displacement of American workers.

Anybody who can sneak into our country gets to stay in. This is not sound immigration policy. Our open borders are a surrender of the United States to anarchy and the bill that the senate purposes is selling out the American public and the rule of law. This proposed legislation gives illegal aliens exactly what they want, legal status and permission stay in the United States .

We have witnessed in the past 18 months hundreds of thousands of Latinos marching across the country in support of immigration reform. Many of these marchers are here illegally. They do not live in the shadows, but flagrantly boast about violating our laws in broad daylight. One of the objectives of these marches is to give the impression that ALL Latinos want illegal aliens to become citizens. It simply is not true!

TOPICS: Government; US: District of Columbia; US: Illinois

I had the great priviledge of speaking before a subcommittee on Comprehensive Immigration ENFORCEMENT! I like to call it.

"We affirm our status as citizens of the United States and, in our civic lives, we are first and foremost Americans. We embrace the principles of our nation and the rule of law which are set forth in our constitution, and reject all attempts to divide this nation along ethnic, racial, or religious lines."

Thank you.

I've heard her speak on TV.

The fact is the legal, law abiding, American Hispanics are being looked down upon by Americans who don't know the difference between who is legal and who isn't.

So the illegals are ruining it for the good guys, and that's got to hurt.

I know Hispanics all across the country who, like you, consider themselves first and foremost, Americans. You’re my heroes!

You’re proof positive that this has not a thing to do with race or ethnicity, but that it is a matter of the preservation of the rule of law, our national sovereignty, and our way of life. God bless you for your service to this great country.

Excellent! Even the latinos who are here legally can see the handwriting on the wall.

What I don’t understand is how the open borders people can’t see how this will destroy the country.

Mr. Chairman and Members of the Subcommittee:

It's like that "joke" top ten performance review (attributed to Letterman) I receive via email from time to time. The one that strikes a chord here goes something like "performs well under constant supervision like a rat trapped in the corner of a cage."

Paraphrasing.

That's one of the worst aspects of this entire mess. Always the innocent suffer. But most of those good Hispanic Americans are more ticked off than the rest of us about illegal aliens and their handlers.

Absolute right on the head!! I get so sick and tired of the racist banner being hoisted every time these lawbreaking ingrates can't do as they please...I have lots of Hispanic friends who align with You Don't Speak For Us ...and this absolutely has nothing to do with race...although one can't help but notice it's people of a certain ethnicity that seem to be the biggest offenders... I don't see Asians...Canadians...you name it...marching in these pro-illegal demonstrations...all I see are Hispanics...carrying Mexican flags and with bandanas covering their cowardly faces.... it's not racist...just an observation of the facts...

Nice going!

You don't just speak for American Hispanics. You speak for all of us who love this country and seek to fix this problem in a way which is best for America!

I want to take this space, time, and bandwidth to congratulate Senator Edward M. Kennedy, (D. MA).

He, never known for intellectual ability, was smart enough to know that his future, and that of his party, depend entirely on the stupidity of the electorate. Wisely sensing that even his MAssholes might be getting wise to him, Senator Kennedy has seen that many more gullible imports would be required to maintain his plurality.

He has taken sure and firm steps to assure that this happens, reaching across the aisle to find invaluable help from the opposition party, (unofficially known as the "Stupid Party"). He was also almost preternaturally inelligent in allowing some 40 years to pass before trying his patented "Kennedy Immigration Reform Trick" again.

The more people in the country who cannot pronounce "Chappaquiddick," the better. For him and his party.

While I was at the hearing we were asked at what date should illegal aliens be grandfathered in to be included in this bill....
Many Pro illegal witnesses said, if they are here and contributing to America then they should be included also!

I said, I am a big fan of Senator Ted Kennedy.
Senator Kennedy stated in 1986 when the last amnesty was past that we would never again have to pass another amnesty....We should go back to 1986 and anyone who came in after that would not be included!
