British Documentary ‘The Great Global Warming Swindle’ to Air on Aussie TV (ABC!)

British Documentary ‘The Great Global Warming Swindle’ to Air on Aussie TV Posted by Noel Sheppard on May 22, 2007 - 12:06.

The British showed it in March. The Swedes in April. Now, the Aussies are going to air it.

When will American television?

In this case, “it” refers to the British documentary “The Great Global Warming Swindle” (video available here) which presents the other side of the climate change debate the media and folks like soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore don’t want you to hear.

As reported by News.com.au (emphasis added throughout):

The Great Global Warming Swindle, to be aired by the national broadcaster in July, is the ideological opposite to Al Gore's acclaimed movie An Inconvenient Truth.

The documentary rebuts mounting scientific evidence that global warming is caused predominantly by human activity, and says it's the result of changes in radiation from the sun.

ABC in Australia obviously has a much firmer grasp of the journalistic principle of showing both sides of an issue rather than advancing an agenda:

Channel 4 defended the film, as has ABC director of television Kim Dalton, on the basis that all sides of the hotly contested global warming debate deserved to be represented.

“Currently the issue of global warming is being debated around the world,” Mr Dalton said.

“This documentary presents a controversial side to that debate.”

“There are people who still question the link between human activity and global warming. I believe it's important that these views are heard and debated,” Mr Dalton said.

In an article on Sunday, I asked the following questions:

Have you noticed that most of the articles you see that are skeptical about man’s role in climate change come from foreign publications based in countries like Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada?

Why do you think that is?

Are the American press too emotionally attached to the issue -- and, in particular, the chief spokesman, soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore -- to even consider the possibility that the debate isn't over, and that their role as journalists is supposed to be to further discussion rather than squelch it?

With that in mind, as “An Inconvenient Truth” has now been shown on cable, and likely will make it to a broadcast network in the upcoming months, when will American television follow in the footsteps of Great Britain, Sweden, and Australia?

Or, do we Americans have to continue to look towards foreign media to learn about the other side of this crucial issue?

Can you say “never?”

We’re Algore’s single biggest carbon credit market.

Just to be certain, Algore has had a special LOCKBOX constructed in which to keep the only video copy in the US.

I'm thinking that in a few years, Gore's propaganda fluff piece will be taken about as seriously as Reefer Madness is taken today.

A limiting factor in plant growth is the lack of CO2. It used to be very abundant on the Earth, but it was sequestered into oil, gas and coal when the comet hit and buried the charred tree trunks deep into the folds of the land.

AlGore is full of $5%&^.!!

Oh sorry, NO PERSONAL ATTACKS.

Forgive me.

In my humble opinion, somebody at DNC got the idea that starting a lot earlier would help their chances. This has been proven completely wrong. Time is never on the side of chaos, because time gives Rush (& Co.) and FR, and simple, everyday variety common sense a chance to sort things out.

I'm just guessing, but it looks to me like the whole steamroller just ran out of steam.

I’m thinking the “ABC” network is the “Austrailian Broadcasting Company”, not the “American Broadcasting Company”. It would be a cold day in h@ll before the American network shows it.

Needs to be a private effort to distribute and view this documentary.

Show it at all teacher conventions, demand it be shown in all schools where “A Convenient Untruth” is shown.

I downloaded the film and showed it to my Chemistry students and had them write a position paper, to a student they came down pretty hard on algore and the way he manipulates data to make his point. Most of my students didn’t even realize there was another side to the climate issue.

Here's another link that could prove useful. YouTube has taken this video down on several occasions, citing copyright issues. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4499562022478442170&q=genre%3Anature+is%3Afree

Wow, the Swedes are viewing this?? The long-time socialist Scandinavian nation is airing this? It looks pretty bad when they’re showing this yet the US isn’t. Of course, with Al Gore here it’ll never show, but it’s good the Brits, Aussies, and Swedes are showing it. Let’s hope it keeps spreading.

I won’t be shocked to see Australia airing it as after all they are on the conservative side of the Western politics. It is Britain and Sweden that is more surprising.

But then you need to understand that there is a difference in treating subjects between US MSMs and non-US Western MSMs: among the non-US MSMs they will at times allow dissenting points to slip through admist greater biases from the hosts, but the US counterparts will try to block our all opposing viewpoints. Come and visit some non-US countries one day and feel the difference.

The shocking thing is that it is the Auntie (what our Australian friends call the ABC) airing it, rather than private channels like Channel 9, 7, or 10. It is akin, to Americans, the PBS showing it.

In fact, the Australian ABC is akin to the US PBS. This shows how shocked I was when I learned the Auntie is showing it.

(But then, the CBC north of the 49th also showed it, showing some curious things the non-US Western public service broadcasters do at times)
