Exactly, this was a horse trade, and the GOP got the nag.

Bush won the battle for fund, but the Dems won the bigger victory. The amnesty bill will destroy the GOP, and give the DNC an unbeatable influx of new members.

But from what I have been hearing about the bill it will destroy both the GOP and the DNC and change our country into a Italian type of multiple parties where nobody has a majority and so we could end up with some type of parlimentary system. At the worst we will not be able to afford the magnitudes of increments in social costs. Thank God I am old and will not have to pay for them.

There is zero proof which you can present that can prove that the President won the war funding bill in return to the illegal immigration bill, only conspiracy theorists on our side are coming up with this stuff. Second the illegal immigration bill despite all its problems will not destroy the GOP, it will have very little effect on the political landscape, and who ever says otherwise is very wrong, including Rush Limbaugh. Less than 10% of the illegal immigrants will become US citizens, and they will not become US citizens for at least 10 years from now. The vast majority of those illegal immigrants who become citizens are not going to vote as the Hispanics in the US have lower rate of participation in the elections.
