OK, why did Fox News have to cover that volcano erupting? As I said, conservatives can't count on Fox to keep the immigration debate boiling. Fox isn't the conservative cable channel. It's the Bush cable channel. Try to find the immigration bill controversy on the Fox home page. (It's there, but you have to look way down. Even then it's spun deceptively in a pro-Bush way: "As plan moves forward in the Senate will House sink it?" As if it's already a done deal in the Senate and only those Pelosi Dems stand in the way. ... )

Thanks. Will read the link.
Good article on Anne’s web site today about this topic.

Good to see liberals and conservatives working together for a change, even if it is on goofy conspiracy theories.
:)
“Ann Coulter on Hannity and Colmes last night wondered aloud whether the White House contacted Roger Ailes at Fox News and asked him to tamp down coverage of the illegal immigrant amnesty bill.”
Because it’s so bad open discussion will submarine it.
So far the Liberal MSM is checkmated with the fear of being called racist on one side, and the excitement of defining the conservative “other” as racist on the the other side.
No mention how the bill will disproportionately harm the lifestyles of Hispanic and other minority Americans.
I’ve had a real sense that we are being marginalized. Chertoff’s statements about us wanting capital punishment for immigrants were unbelievable and irresponsible. I wouldn’t put it past FOX to be toeing the line. After all, they are giving Geraldo a huge amount of airtime on this issue and Shep Smith has been encouraged to rant as well. I would also say that even though who are center-right on FNC are pushing this bill.
Amplification on prior post.
Fred Barnes on Special Report does the pro amnesty dance everynight.
All you have to do is watch Special Report and Fox News Sunday to see a solid wall of pundits (Barnes, Kristol, Kondrake, Williams, Liasson, etc.) in favor of amnesty and open borders and they are not even civil about it.
These clowns who live in gated communities in million dollar homes don’t ever hesitate in calling any of you who oppose ILLEGAL aliens as “yahoos”, “bigots”, “nativists” and every other race-based epithet they can think of.
What is sad is that after their daily tirades against those of us who strangely think the law should be followed, Brit Hume will come out and say “Fox News, Fair and Balanced!”
Yeah, right!
If they pass this bill and Bush signs it I willnever vote Republican again, ever, and I will never send any money to these crooks.
I’ve switch to CNN for news. CNN was always better on breaking news and Lou Dobbs is great on issues important to me. Last Sunday CNN was asking hard questions on immigration (to both D’s and R’s) I never hear Fox ask. Ann is right Fox about Fox, they are neocon water boys.
“Fred Barnes”
He’s a Weekly Standard yahoo.
All supporting wage depression for invitations to the right parties, and class solidarity...though they can never really belong.
We already have laws. We should enforce these laws. Deport illegal aliens, build a fence and otherwise secure the border, fine those who set up "sanctuary cities" that aid and abet and fine employers, cut out special perks for these criminals, etc. And the problem will fade.
What is this apparently frenzied obsession with illegal aliens by Bush & the Senators that borders on insanity or treason?
I watched Ann Coulter on Hannity and Clown and did see Hannity change the subject when Ann brought up FoxSnooze lack of amnesty coverage. She probably won't be asked on again until the amnesty bill passes.
I stopped watching Special Report when Barnes and Kondracke started that spewing that stuff the last time. When was it, two years ago in February? I stopped watching in March of 2005.
Fox has been crap from day 1. I don’t understand why anyone takes it any more seriously than CNN.
CNN stopped covering news objectively many years ago. They now carry the water for George Soros and MoveOn.org. Yes, they have Lou Dobbs, but that's it.
FoxSnooze sucks, but CNN reeks like decomposing skunk carcasses.
Has anyone seen the O’Reilly online newsletter? Main piece is about Bush & Bair and the usual.
NOTHING ABOUT THE SENATE BILL, OR A CALL FOR UNIFICATION TO STOP IT...OR DISCUSS IT FOR THAT MATTER.....
We don’t watch Fox all that much anymore at our house.
i watch very little tv news unless a big story is breaking. but i do love lou dobbs.
I for one would urge you to separate wheat from chaff and vote for the Republicans who do the right thing on this bill.
Since you are from NJ, it’s pretty tough, but I’m sure Scott Garrett is on the right side of this issue. Just an example.
If Bush wasn’t walking the party off a cliff on this, I am sure only a few RINOs would spring for this bad idea. The pressure to go for legalization and ‘comprehensive’ has come from McCain, Hegel, Spectre, a few RINOs, and Bush.
This is not what 90% of the Republican party wants.
Amnesty/legalization is a completely unnecessary, undesirable and counter-productive action.
unnecessary - we don’t help our country in any way with it.
Does it remove illegal aliens? No, it just redefines them.
Undesirable - undermines the rule of law
They know conservatives hate her so bad, they will “forget” the RINOs past votes, and vote for them anyway!
They of course will throw some gay marriage amendments in some key states to seal the deal.
RINOs, remember the Elephant never forgets!!
FR *bookmark* , .. Fox was important , .. but squandered their “juice” , .. too bad
What's it been like up till now?
Maybe under Rupert they wouldn't keep reprinting Robert Bartley's infamous "There Shall Be Open Borders" editorial, as they did in the 1990s.
More here.
Since the President’s people asked Boehner to avoid saying anything negative about the bill, it would not surprise me at all if he talked to Fox about it too. O’Reilly is supporting the bill.
The amnesty and the guest worker programs and the feeble enforcement are of course the big issues in this bill. But Kaus/Slate brings up an issue that IMO just adds insult to injury. That is, that the illegals would NOT have to pay back taxes. Kennedy’s version said they would have to pay them, but Bush asked that Kennedy take that out, which I am sure that Kennedy was only too happy to do. (I have heard this from several sources, not just Kaus/Slate.)
This bill has to be stopped. Phone calls, emails, faxes, letters to Senate/House/President are obviously important. But, should also be doing something more???
For a long time, we've been told by the GOP party elite that there is no conflict at all between corporatism - the business side of the party - and traditional conservatism. Now, much of the time, that is perfectly true. But sometimes, like on this issue, the corporatist and conservative wings of the party end up clashing. It's a serious division within the party, and I don't know which wing will previal.
That’s what it’s going to have to come to. I’m already there for about 1/2 the candidates. Of course, I will never vote for a Democrat—even if it’s Jesus—after Waco.
However, "big business" has changed. At that time, their priorities were maximizing shareholder value (still is), but there was no doubt that GM, Boeing, etc. were US companies and were US supporters.
Now, I don't believe that. The term "multi-national" is a shibboleth, but it still describes a company that does not give a tinker's damn about the United States, except as one market out of many. If we fall--as we are doing and will continue to do--they'll just sell more cars or whatever to Indians or whomever our jobs have been outsourced to.
You are correct. When dollar signs are involved, conservatism loses out to corporatism.
You can’t get rich on an ideal. But you sure can on cheap exploited labor that can’t fight back or make demands.
The only game in town .... Jim Quinn 104.7 FM here in Pittsburgh or 165 XM.
We have to keep phoning and writing and contacting media.
Perhaps African Americans can be convinced to join the battle. (see for example "Illegal immigration's harmful effects:Congressional Caucus drops the ball" by Carol M. Swain in today's The Washington Times).
We have to spread the word. Fox News is not reporting much on it and some of its reporters support it, thus leaving Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck. I wonder if anyone will be distributing leaflets in D.C. this weekend since Rolling Thunder will be in town along with lots of tourists lining the parade route.
You really don't need to wonder. Any member of Congress (and the President) voting YES on S. 1348 is in breach of his/her oath of office and is a traitor who should either resign or be removed from office. This bill, among its many other outrages, ignores the Constitution and is a direct attack on the national sovereignty of the United States, especially the section featuring the NWO/Globalist wet dream, the SPP/NAU which calls for integrating the United States with Canada and Mexico (North American Union).
Annie was lethal and hilarious last night on Hannity and Colmes. They had a pacperson/young woman/Edwards supporter on against Annie, (who ignored her)...that’s how lame the woman was. Colmes had to prop her up, a tactic that failed miserably. All they did was play and replay the video of Edwards combing his hair.
I am in MD now not NJ. I’m sorry but I will become an independent.
Bush and the leaders of the party are pushing this and do not giver a hoot about the affects on the country.
I will never vote democrat and as it is starting to appear I will be leaving the Republican party soon. Or should I say they are leaving me.
I regret that I voted for Bush.

Thanks for the link!
“removed from office” and hung!
After first applying a generous layer of tar & feathers...
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them.
Since the rule of law is down the toilet why can't we get amnesty for not paying income taxes ?
Seems fair to me let's see the elites and their govt shrivel up and die !
Conservatives are usually not anarchists but I could make an exception in this case.
BUMP
You’re right. FOX News isn’t what it was...
The next generation of leaders must go directly to the sheeple bypassing the MSM entirely.
Oh, and Saturday nights should show a Reagan movie.
If this bill passes, I will be changing my current stance on policies.
I will be vehemently against big business, and befor any tax to hurt them.
I will be a major proponent of taxing the rich.
I have not had time to look, but when I find the businesses behind this, especially the key Rep’s, I will be boycotting their products.
I will not support anything to do with the Catholic church, and now believe in seperation of church and state.
This is a sellout, so I will to. I will do whatever I need to do expel Republican’s who voted for this bill, even if it means voting Democrat. Not that this matters, it will be a Democratic landslide in the future anyway. This party who preaches ehtics and everything else has none.
It’s our own fault, the signs were there, but we to busy actually WORKING, PAYING TAXES, and OBEYING THE LAW to organize protests against this bill. Oh, and I will be praying for my 5 year old to forgive me in 20 years for kind of country I left him with, not that he would know how great it was reading Mexican History Books.
True, but that happened years ago, not current.
Fox News is NOT conservative. It only seems conservative, because it presents conservative views along side liberal views. The MSM only present liberal views.
O'Reilly says he is not a conservative and he's right. He's a self-described traditionalist, which usually lines up with conservatives, but not always. O'Reilly is an enviro-wacko. He's a populist on economics, although he opposes taxation for the purposes of re-distribution of wealth.
Many of Fox News folks come from ABC (Brit Hume), NBC, CBS (O'Reilly) or even CNN (Bill Hemmer + Greta).
Murdoch does fundraisers for Hillary. He just saw a market for 'fair + balanced' news coverage, because all the rest of the news was unbalanced. He's no ideologue or crusader or movement activist.
Fox News is what it is and nothing more. No reason to get upset, other than to call them, if true, on their 'unfair and unbalanced' coverage on the immigration bill.
If they pass this bill and Bush signs it I willnever vote Republican again, ever, and I will never send any money to these crooks.
I’m sure the Democrats will appreciate your missing vote.
I am sure the democrats will appreciate my missing vote too.
But Just look at what Bush is doing, now he wants 30 BILLION more dollars for AIDS in Africa.
