What the heck is going on .. the music almost sounds like we’re getting ready to strike Iran .. and now John Corsi has found out about the EO Bush just signed setting up his right to declare martial law.

I’m wondering what he knows that he can’t gell us ..?? Like maybe the chances of Iran trying to strike the USA if we attack their nuke stuff. Hmmmmm ..?? Makes you wonder!

I used to have a lot of passengers from the Stennis when I drove a yellow cab in San Diego. I miss those days.

The Shahab 3 can easily reach Israel, and, as it's a ballistic missile, its trajectory would probably take it above the recognized airspace of Iraq and Jordan for most of its flight.

Still, with conventional warheads, they probably wouldn't be much more effective than Iraq's Scuds were, though they might be more difficult to intercept. Some are known to be equipped with cluster munitions, which could cause heavy casualties in populated areas, especially if there is little warning and civilians are caught in the open.

The only way they'd be truly effective is if they are armed with chemical or, God forbid, nuclear warheads. Even a chemical attack would almost certainly draw a nuclear retaliation from Israel, given the current political environment there. Even if they are denied the use of Arab airspace and forward refueling for strike aircraft, they still retain at least a limited nuclear strike capability through the Jericho II MRBM. They may also have the capability of delivering nuclear weapons via cruise missiles launched from either of their two Dolphin-class SSKs.

The bottom line is both countries do have the ability to strike each other without technically violating the territory or airspace of their respective neighbors. Whether they do so or not is, of course, another question.

That’s possible .. and I’ve been wondering if that’s why Amanutjob has been threatening Israel twice in the past few weeks.

Actually, Israel can strike from the Gulf. Iran would have to fly them over Iraq and I believe Jordan. Maybe over Syria and I don’t think the Syrians want to mess with Israel. I also don’t think the Jordanians would be too thrilled.

Iran would rely on playing the victim card to the UN and MSM because that’s what bullies do when their noses are smacked with a newspaper.

The day we strike Iran is the day the country collapses internally. We just seem to pussified(?) by the left and the MSM to actually do it.

The CVAN-78 is already named, USS Gerald R. Ford., will be first of the "Ford Class Carriers." from Wiki:

USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) is to be the lead ship of her class of United States Navy supercarriers. The ship will be named after the 38th President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford, which the Navy announced on January 16, 2007.[1]

Ford is currently scheduled to be laid down in 2009, concurrently or nearly so with the commissioning of USS George H. W. Bush. Construction work has already begun; on August 11, 2005, Northrop Grumman held a ceremonial steel cut for a 15-ton plate that will form part of a side shell unit of the carrier. If construction of the carrier remains on schedule the new ship should join the U.S. Navy’s active fleet as a fully commissioned warship in 2015. Ford is slated to replace the current Enterprise, ending her 50 plus years of service with the United States Navy.[2]

I think CVAN-78 should be the ENTERPRISE.

Speaking of ship names, the second ship of the Zumwalt class DDG's will be laid soon. There is an active campaign to persuade the Secretary of the Navy to name DDG-1001 the USS Robert A. Heinlein. [website] Now THAT's a ship name I could get behind!

I believe the music is from “The Gladiator”. It does evoke goose bumps.

I know But which sounds better

The Ford class
Or
The Duke Class

Ford Can have the next one named after him CVN 79

It would probably boost re-enlistment’s 20% or more so someone could claim to be a plank holder on the USS John Wayne. When they brought back the Battle ships in the 80s
re-enlistment’s shot through the roof. Heck I may re-up for that. what’s 22 years being out;)

The Duke & the Gipper are off your shore!
