Iraq isn't a police state now. It was when Saddam and his two sons were running it. The mass graves we have found containing over 300,000 people, the rape rooms, the human shredders, and the gassing of whole villages prevented any mass uprisings or insurgencies.

Iranians are also being murdered and oppressed. Would you stick your head up if you knew that if discovered, your wife, children, parents, brothers and sisters and other relatives would be murdered or tortured? How do you think Stalin, Castro, and Chariman Mao maintained their control? It is not that easy to organize a resistance movement in a police state. Carter eased the Shah out of power by convincing him not to use Savak to clamp down on the opposition, all in the name of human rights. The mullahs are not going to make thatsame mistake.

There is so much more dissent inside Iraq than in Iran.

Your point is absurd.

Human beings should be able to dissent from their government without being met with such extreme violence.
