Is this real 720p (or even 1080i) HDTV? Or is it the compressed crap I keep hearing about?

Direct Tv needs to beef up it’s selections. Either they are slipping or I am just getting bored with TV.

Aren’t like 1/2 of these channels special sports packages? For example, don’t they count the NFL package in HD as 16 of the 160 channels?

It’s about time. I won’t go get it until they get NESN HD as well.

I’m about to buy my first HD panel. Should I stay with Dish or switch to Direct? I don’t subscribe to premium channels and I don’t care about NFL Sunday Ticket. I’ve been pretty satisfied with Dish Network for about 10 years.
Thanks.

Until I can be assured that there is a DVD player/recorder on the market that will play the over 1000 DVD’s (non-HD) I have in my movie library, I’m not ready to jump into HD. My biggest fear is my library will be obsolete.

Comcast is losing me as a customer at some point this summer. While I have to pay for bulk cable in my development, they won’t pick up the Big Ten Network and I won’t risk missing a PSU game.

I’ll have to put up a dish and pay DTV + Comcast for my internet, but I see no other alternative.

HD or no HD today’s TV with all of the channel choices suck. We have Direct TV with a premium package and it seems like night after night with all the channels to select from we find nothing on worth watching. We HATE reality TV, We find American Idol and the rest of the so called talent shows an over-hyped bore, and the rest of the channels keep playing the same stuff over and over again

I am certain that back in the 1960’s and 70’s with only six channels we had so much more to watch. I don’t remember flipping through the channels and finding nothing to watch. And each night had more variety than today.
Then do I have to remind you of Saturday Morning Cartoons? Turning on TV Saturday morning was an event to look forward to. Todays Saturday cartoons look like Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, same crap.

I am really upset with DISH. Been a customer since day-one, I pay them $120+ per month for service, and now that I have upgraded to new HD TV, they want to charge me $149 for a new box, along with an 18 month commitment. I told them HELL no!. As much as I have spent with DISH, they should gladly offer me a free HDTV upgrade like they do new customers. Looks like I will be switching to TimeWarner Cable, or DirecTV.

I’d love to have DIRECTV. Unfortunately it is to sophisticated for us moroons in Canada, so the gubmint won’t allow them in the country.

Nope. Wish it would go away 500 lines fine for me. Why do I need to get new sets to watch crap and pay more.

Just wait & see. We’re all in for a screwing with this digital crap. Wait tell they start chargeing per viewer in the room.

Record a show or try to FF through commercials LOL good luck.

My cable company still doesn't have HDTV. I'm sure they'll offer services before the end of the year.
