I know that there is the 100th, which is an infantry unit out of HI, but what are the two Helicopter Batallions?
I saw a pie chart in the Army times months ago that showed the larger number of guardsmen going overseas compared to the reserves. It’s also among my friends that are in the Reserves and the Guard. Everybody I know that is in the Guard will be in Iraq by this Friday. Nobody I know in the Reserves has even heard gossip about a deployment.
“THE National Guard cannot perform both its domestic and overseas missions at the same time, as the recent debate over whether Kansas possessed sufficient National Guard troops and equipment to respond to the tornado that leveled Greensburg has highlighted. To put it bluntly, the members of the Guard cannot protect us here if they are fighting over there.”
The “Big Lie” continues.
Most of us anyway. (grin)
Hey, Allegra, where’s that desert tan you were going to send me?:) I want to become brown without any effort:) Fed-Ex or Bekens can ship it to me. Stuff it in a box:):)
EXACTLY!
The numbers say that there have been about 240,000 deployed from the ARNG through 14 Nov 2005, and about 143,000 deployed from the USAR through that date.
If the size of the ARNG is 350,000, and the USAR is about 205,000, that tells us that there's a 69% deployment rate from the ARNG, and essentially the same deployment rate (70%) from the USAR.
I'm mostly working from a military Reserve Affairs report posted here at this page:
http://www.defenselink.mil/ra/
The report is called "Intro to RA." The link is in the lower right of the screen. The key data is from slide 25.
ok, thanks for clearing that up. Now I don’t feel quite so left out.
I feel "left out" because I've been trying to deploy for 3-4 years and haven't been able to make it happen, though I'm completely qualified. It's driving me crazy.
Same here! I’ve tried going to the special Website on AKO, but it says I need to go to command because I’m missing some sort of information. I go to my command, and they direct me back to the website. It’s giving me an ulcer.
So now I wait for information on which unit within the my Regional Readiness Command is deploying next so I can just transfer over to them (as long as they aren’t truck drivers).
You involved at the training in Muscatetuck last week?
It's errr...ummmm...in the mail!
After all, I can grow another one real fast. Without any effort. :)
LOL!
Good luck getting deployed -- maybe I'll see you "down range" before long.
No, I tried to get myself invited to join a unit that was involved with the Muscatatuck exercise, because I wanted to see it, but it didn't work out in the end. I happened to be at Atterbury for other reasons while the exercise was going on, and it was a real beehive of activity -- I've never seen so many aircraft coming and going from their airfield.
Muscatatuck was OK, except I’m with a DECON unit, so being in a sealed plastic suit in the sun isn’t exactly the most comfortable way to be. Plus I do triage, so I was out in the sun (instead of in a tent) for additional heat woes. With the exception of that and the thunderstorm, training was great.
I've never done that, but I'll take your word for it!
Thanks for all you do, by the way -- Army medics are some of my favorite people, because of their high standards and long training.
I love being a medic, it’s its own reward.
And thank you! Civil Affairs helps in ways a bayonet never will.
IF, the Democrat Gov of Kansas had done her duty, instead of simply spinning lies to pander to the Democrats Movebat base, she would of contacted other state National Guards immediately to make up for their mythical “shortage” due to deployed troops.
Why having less then 1/3 of her Kansas NG troops deployed prevented her from using the OTHER 2/3s to come to the rescue of a small village of 1,500 souls has YET to be explained by either her or the Democrat party propagandists at the NY Slimes.
I have a really simply solution. Do what the Pentagon wants and scale WAY back on the NG and significantly up the active duty force levels. Just undue the mistakes make by Les Aspin during the Clinton Regime and scale back on the NG. Then the Military will only have to tap the NG troops in cases of a “total mobilization” scenarios

I also believe that not only did she not request help through EMAC, but there was not a single Federal Request for Assistance. In short, her emergency management folks went to work and got the job done while she jumped instantly into the “I’m not Blanco mode”.
