Blogging the Qur’an [New Series on Hot Air]
Hot Air ^ | May 27, 2007 | Robert Spencer

Posted on 05/27/2007 10:54:30 AM PDT by bnelson44

To understand the motives and goals of Islamic jihad terrorists, one good place to start might be to explore what they themselves say about why they’re doing what they’re doing, and what they want. That in turn will lead you to the Qur’an (or Koran), the Islamic holy book. The jihadists quote it frequently and portray themselves as those who are following “pure Islam,” the genuine article as it is taught in the Qur’an and Islamic tradition. So in the course of my work explaining the jihadists’ objectives, I’ve quoted the Qur’an a great deal – and hardly a day goes by without my being accused of “cherry-picking” violent passages, and quoting them “out of context.” Meanwhile, the Council on American Islamic Relations and other Muslim groups say that in order to understand the true, peaceful Islam, we should read the Qur’an. So over the course of the next few months, I’m going to read it, and discuss it in a series of columns. All of it. Not “cherry-picked” or “out of context.” The whole thing, beginning to end. Some of you may be familiar with David Plotz’s series on Slate, “Blogging the Bible.” This series will be similar to that one, but rather than just write about what I think or feel about a certain passage, I will, unlike Plotz, refer to commentaries – all Muslim ones – on the Qur’an. I’ll try to explain how mainstream Muslims who study the Qur’an will understand any given passage, and what its import might be for non-Muslims.

Brave man walking. What with only 19% or so “moderate” muslims believing in beheadings.

The famous comic book for illiterates and morons...

Read it; several times (I couldn't believe the juvenile nonsensity of the damned thing the first few times) so that is a heartfelt assessment.

Well, a monumental undertaking, but useless without a simultaneous listing of how the mental deficients act on what it says...in detail... by the thousands...

I hope that guy has life insurance.

His life has been threatened pretty much daily by the lovely ROP for the last 10 years that I know of.

He also is repeatedly warned by the FBI whenever he travels to speak...

Brave man.

The famous comic book for illiterates and morons - and murderers and madmen.

"I’ve been aware of madness in the Islamic world. I’ve written about it. The madness of people who have fallen behind technically, and who do not have the will to make the intellectual effort to catch up. I was aware of the religious hatred, I was aware of the indifference to life. I was aware of the anti-civilization aspect of the new fundamentalism. But I had no idea it had gone so far — the madness. The idea of their strength is an illusion. Nothing is coming from within. The terrorists can fly a plane, but what they can’t do is build a plane. What they can’t do is build those towers. I think people have spoken much rubbish about that event. The poor revenging themselves on the rich! It’s nothing but an aspect of religious hatred. And that is so hard to deal with, or even contemplate. You can deal with the poor striking out, but you can’t deal with the threat of a universal religious war.”
V. S. Naipaul

Thank you for that quote; another keeper about the lovely mass murderers masquerading as a religion...

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome."

-- Winston Churchill:
(The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50
(London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899)

"To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Muhammad and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing"

-- General George S. Patton:
The War as I Knew it, 1974, p.49

Roert Spencer has written many books on Islam. You can visit his web site at:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/

As you can well expect, he has recieved countless death threats from those who follow "the relion of peace" and the ways of it's sole pedophile "prophet", the thieving, raping, mass murdering meglomanic, a fine example of a man of which to follow, Mohammad.

Another good online book which exposes the Koran for what it is, is:

http://www.prophetofdoom.net/toc.html

Reading the Koran and it "traditions" (ways of Mohammad) on your own is difficult. It's an disordered mess which first needs to be put in order before you can begin to make sense of it. This book does that. After reading it, you will know more about Islam and the Koran than most turd world muslims do.
