Gonna need to grab that barf bag again... “Let There Be Peace On Earth”
How about something about victory, something about our pride as Americans, something to honor those who Memorial Day is for? “Peace on Earth” Nice idea, but we’re never gonna see it.
I hope the military there in the audience shunned him to the upmost.
Thanks for the post -- I got to see this show and you're right.
Overall it was a great show. But if I were to quibble then I’d agree with your comment — something like “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” might have been a more fitting ending than “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
in year’s past they would always end the show with “God Bless America” then “America the Beautiful”...when I was at this concert in 1998 the entire crowd stood and sang- many people with tears in their eyes...
Those are good suggestions.
It was a good tribute overall, well worth watching. When the Marine Corps hymn was sung and Murtha stood as someone who had served, I couldn’t believe it. I was sure he’d been declared an ex-Marine. I’m not sure anybody was “Reaching Out and Touching” him when CeCe sang that song. Beautiful voices throughout.
That's what Jesus told us to pray for.
I agree with your assessment. I wish that show had ended with the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” It would have been more patriotic than that wimpy song they sung. I turned the program off before it finished.
Thanks so much for the reminder.
It just came on 18 minutes ago,
here, and yes, need my tissues.
Thank you & God Bless to our troops
and veterans. And their families.
Okay, you make a good point.
