... Out of some 892 people on their "members in good standing" list, and out of the supposed 2,500 people Fr. Armstrong claims are members.
Not even a quorum, in other words -- a signficant majority didn't vote at all. I was actually rather surprised by their low turnout -- it's something the CANA folks ought to be concerned about.
But Armstrong said, "In as much as the bishop thinks our vote is illegitimate, I think the bishop is illegitimate. What the bishop really ought to be concerned about is whether I'll file a slander suit against him."
One of the interesting things about this situation is that we who did not follow Don Armstrong have had various opportunities to meet with and hear the Bishop. He's nothing like the man Don Armstrong describes ... and he's preached the real Gospel with a passion and depth that Armstrong hasn't approached for years. He's trying to do the right thing, too: the charges (and the evidence to support them) are such that no responsible bishop could or should ignore them.
I don't agree with the bishop on a lot of things, but in this situation he is acting properly.
Armstrong does come across as intemperate, in his media comments.
