I know you do (and my theological knowledge is superior to almost nobody's!)

I'm just saying that Rome needs to look past Cranmer's understandable confusion (given the political issues of the age) and concentrate on what he got right.

Since they approve him for AUR, they can't have any serious theological problems with what he wrote.

As I understand it, the words of consecration are retranslated from the Latin for the AUR . . .

That’s very true! We and the TLM parish are the only ones in town that still use the Roman Canon. They have the english on the right, we have the latin on the right. What I meant was we still get to use Cranmer for most of the collects, the general confession, the Prayer of Humble Access, etc. (And for you Rome hunters out there, we do a general confession - there is no general absolution.)

I’d love to see more of our service adopted by the church as a whole. The way we sing the psalms, in Anglican Chant instead of those gawdawful GIA settings would be a good start. Even Gregorian Chant as far as that goes. The Holy Father wants more Gregorian Chant... I wouldn’t mind adopting some of that. GC is delicious.

And for one more of my gripes, no matter how many NO masses I went to I never stopped cringing when the priest said “and the FRIENDSHIP of the Holy Spirit...”
