Rest In Peace Charles Nelson Reilly...
You were a funny man and I will miss you...

In 1962, he won a Tony Award for his portrayal of Bud Frump in the original Broadway production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Well! I just learned something new today!! Wow. Charles Nelson Reilly as Bud Frump. Perfect!

Those of us who were kids in the '60s and '70s all have our CNR memories. From
Match Game to Saturday morning, it was impossible to miss him. I always liked his commercials for Bic Banana Ink Crayons the best:
Spot 1 (:30)
Spot 2 (:30)
Yes, he was a homosexual. And I hope God will forgive him for it, as I hope He will pardon me for my own weaknesses and sins. But he never made a big deal out of it, and never used it as an excuse for acting like an animal in public. Whatever his personal life was like, Charles Nelson Reilly brought a little joy into the life of a troubled child from a broken home over the years and that child was me. For that I am grateful.
Farewell to a real entertainer.

Anybody remember his ads for "Bic Banana Inc Crayons"? Ah simpler times:
"I am the big banana!"
It's a cruel practical joke of the Lord Himself that I can still remember every word of the lyrics to the sing-along ("The colors are so bright and GAAAAAAYYYY!"). Pass the daquiris.

“The cause was complications of pneumonia, said his partner, Patrick Hughes, who is his only immediate survivor.”
OMG - you mean CNR was, you know, gay?
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I didn’t know he did a lot of that stuff! Interesting!!
He did make me laugh, and he seemed likable. I appreciate that he didn’t flame in our faces.
This would be a sad way to go. A family relative also died of “complications of pneumonia after a long illness,” and he suffered.

We saw CNR live a few years ago in “The Magic Flute” opera.
Didn’t sing, didn’t dance, but was funny as all get out and we enjoyed every minute of it.
RIP, Mr. Reilly

He was hilarious. As a kid, I enjoyed him on Match Game and later in the Cannonball Movies. RIP, Charles.
