Lessee, in his short term in Congress, Crockett voted repeatedly for canals, harbors, roads, and above all, cheap public land

Didn't say he was perfect, just that he wasn't Clay's lap dog.

Abraham Lincoln.

Course as long as he or one of his cronies got a cut in the development of said project

Definitely worth reading.

It sums up my feeling that any leeway taken with constitution (even if I AGREE with it) is supremely dangerous.

It is like the newer powers given to Bush - you may like that he has supreme power, but guess what, at some point some socialist liberal will have those SAME powers, and once the precedent is set, and those powers used - we conservatives will be SCREWED!

Which is why the constitution being held to is our ONLY HOPE and PROTECTION.

We need to vote for only those politicians who hold the constitution in respect (which most DO NOT). That is our only real protection. By giving government politicians (even the ones we like) more and more power, we are also giving politicians we despise (Clnton, Obama, etc.) that same power to be used in the future against us.

If you don't think Presidential Executive Orders, the Patriot Act and other infringements of our constitutional liberties can be used against chriistians, conservatives, and other dedicated REAL patriots - you really ARE stupid. Let me say it again - If you don't think Hilary or Obama (or some future socialist) will use these new powers against us - you really ought to wake up!

Think about this very seriously.
