Public Health investigation seeks people who may have been exposed to extensively drug resistant tuberculosis (XDR TB) infected person. WHO: Dr. Julie Gerberding, Director, CDC Dr. Martin Cetron, Director, CDC Division of Global Migration and Quarantine Dr. Kenneth Castro, Director, CDC Division of Tuberculosis Elimination
WHAT: Release of information about the action and steps that CDC is taking in response to a case of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR TB) in a U.S. citizen who undertook international travel. XDR TB is a recently defined subtype of multi-drug resistant TB and can cause severe illness and death.
WHY: Like all forms of TB, XDR TB is a disease caused by germs that are spread person-to-person through the air. In this case, the infected patient traveled on two trans-Atlantic air flights and in doing so, may have exposed passengers and crew to XDR TB. A federal quarantine order has been issued and CDC is currently collaborating with U.S. state and local health departments, international Ministries of Health, the airline industry, and WHO.

Is this a gift from illegals?
One could hope that CDC will do ICE’s job and close the border on public health grounds. (Not remotely likely, I know).

Rare Tuberculosis Case Prompts Warning
Man May Have Spread Dangerous Form Of Disease To Passengers On Two Trans-Atlantic Flights
A man with a rare and dangerous form of tuberculosis may have spread the disease to passengers and crew on two trans-Atlantic flights to Paris and from Prague earlier this month, federal health officials said Tuesday.
CDC officials on Tuesday released information about the passenger, and called for people who were on the same flights to get checked for the infection.
The infected patient flew from Atlanta to Paris on May 12, arriving on May 13, on Air France Flight 385. He returned to the United States on May 24, on Czech Air Flight 410, from Prague to Montreal.
The man then drove into the United States. He is hospitalized, in respiratory isolation, according to the World Health Organization.
U.S. authorities quarantine air traveler with TB
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. federal health officials have placed under quarantine a man who may have exposed fellow passengers to a particularly nasty strain of tuberculosis on two transatlantic flights, authorities said on Tuesday.
Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said authorities are seeking to notify passengers who traveled aboard Air France 385 from Atlanta to Paris on May 13 and back to the United States on Czech Air Flight 0104 on May 24.
She said people at CDC do not recall a similar action since 1963.
"This is an unusual TB organism, one that's very, very difficult to treat. And we want to make sure that we have done everything we possibly can to identify people who could be at risk," Gerberding said.
Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that usually attacks the lungs.
What border?
Have you seen this?
Do we know where this person is now?
Canadian-US I believe.
Really. Pretty stupid.
Man...shades of 12 Monkeys
He is hospitalized, in respiratory isolation, according to the World Health Organization.
Deliberate? Terrorist?
What does his citizenship have to do with it? Or are we experiencing some preventative reporting?
Putting my tin foil hat on:

Seems like a huge concern, is this TB new on the scene. Is this the first time a person has flown in an airplane with this strain of TB?
Taking tin foil hat off.
Guess it's just a precaution.
Yes ... 12 Monkeys does come to mind, doesn’t it.
