Clinton: 'On Your Own' Attitude Must Go
Associated Press ^ | May 29 | HOLLY RAMER

Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

Clinton said she would reduce special breaks for corporations, eliminate tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas and open up CEO pay to greater public scrutiny.

Clinton also said she would help people save more money by expanding and simplifying the earned income tax credit; create new jobs by pursuing energy independence; and ensure that every American has affordable health insurance.

Hey she did work. In fact she worked as a lawyer on land deals (like Whitwewater and Castle Grande) for the Rose Law firm. That is if we can ever find those billing records.

Why, oh why, is she living in the United States then? Just go to one of those freedom-loving, prosperous countries that doesn’t have that “On Your Own” attitude that curses America.

Rugged individualism, self reliance, or dependence on an all knowing, all controlling welfare state?

Which way America?

Her Majesty has always hinted at being a socialist but now she has openly announced it. Amazing that a socialist can actually be competitive for the presidency of the United States. Was all our history of freedom to this point for naught?

Yeah, I guess covering up scandals might be considered “work”, at least in the legal profession. But I’d imagine an assembly line worker or farmer would think differently.

I’m sorry, Mrs. “make it up as you go along” Clinton, but I happen to be in the middle class and President Bush’s tax cuts were very much appreciated.

Wasn’t it Jesse Jackson who said, “It’s better to have the hope of getting something from the Clintons than to actually get it from Bush.”

As long as the media doesn’t question her statements, the bigger the lies she tells (Clinton 101).

Less prosperity. In return I assume more responsibility for the irresponsible.

She has my vote!
