That’s true, and that is why they belong in other branches. EVERY Marine is a groundpounder and a warrior first, then whatever else they do in the USMC second. No two ways about it.

My point is there are plenty, just maybe not in the Marines.

They are willing and eager to serve their country, even at great risk to themselves,

Not to disrespect the Marines, but I wonder what the recruiting numbers would be like if meat grinders like Iwo Jima or Okinawa were happening?

U.S. MARINES

ROUGH, TOUGH, ROMPIN’, HELL RAISING, DEATH AND DESTRUCTION.

THE FINEST FIGHTING MACHINE THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN.

EACH MOMENT THAT I LIVE IS AN ADDITIONAL THREAT UPON YOUR LIFE.

I’M COCKY, SELF-CENTERED, OVERBEARING, AND I DO NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF FEAR FOR I AM FEAR ITSELF.

“SEMPER FIDELIS” ALWAYS FAITHFUL TO GOD, FAMILY, COUNTRY, AND CORPS.

SEMPER FI - DO OR DIE.

I AM A LEAN, MEAN, GREEN, AMPHIBIOUS MONSTER MADE OF BLOOD
AND GUTS WHO AROSE FROM THE FIERY DEPTHS OF HELL, WHOSE
SOLE PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO PERPETUATE DEATH AND DESTRUCTION
UPON THE FESTERING OF ANTI-AMERICANS THROUGHOUT THE
GLOBE, WHENEVER, WHEREVER IT MAY ARISE.

AND, WHEN MY TIME COMES I’LL DIE A GLORIOUS DEATH ON THE BATTLEFIELD, GIVING MY LIFE FOR MOM, APPLE PIE AND THE AMERICAN FLAG.

WE STOLE THE EAGLE FROM THE AIR FORCE, THE ANCHOR FROM THE
NAVY AND THE ROPE FROM THE ARMY.

ON THE SEVENTH DAY WHILE GOD RESTED, WE OVERRAN HIS
PERIMETER, STOLE THE GLOBE AND WE’VE BEEN RUNNING THE
WHOLE SHOW EVER SINCE.

WE LIVE LIKE SOLDIERS, TALK LIKE SAILORS, AND SLAP THE HELL OUT OF BOTH OF THEM.

WARRIORS BY DAY, LOVERS BY NIGHT, PROFESSIONALS BY CHOICE,
AND MARINES BY THE GRACE OF GOD.

(Goosebumps, Begin!)

SEMPER FI

I know a friend of a friend that is in Army basic as we speak. Strange thing happened. He called from his cell phone during basic. Apparently they are given their cell phones back at some point after the first two weeks. All I can say is, wow.

I believe they are still co-ed, too. Back in the '90s, the Scumbag Administration tried desperately to feminize the Marine Corps with co-ed boot camp and the Commandant told Clinton's people to go play in the street.

I would suggest that before you start making noise concerning the fairness of the new standards you give them (the Marines) the benefit of the doubt....after all they have been doing this for a while, and doing it well.

I never dreamed we’d see “sensitivity training” during boot camp.
Yet, here we are. :-(

It doesnt. When I was a “Hat” I pushed platoons in excess of 90 recruits with a 4 man team.

New Corps is any Marine with a service number that’s at least 1 number more than mine.

Seriously, as good as we were, these Marines today are out-freaking-standing.

We might have been nuttier, but these Marines are better.

If one Marine dies because he hesitated just long enough to review his "battlefield ethics" or his thirteen rules of engagement, scum like Petraeus, Mattis and Conway should hang. I don't know where the Marines came up with sh!tbird officers like these guys. They are even disappointed that 40% of Marines polled claim they wouldn't rat out a brother-in-arms! I'm disappointed it's not more like 95%. All you can do is shake your head.

This is great news! There are good reasons why Marines are universally feared by the enemies of freedom. The Corps must maintain tight standards because Marines are expected to be exceptional warriors (and they are).

From personal experience the current destinations these Marines go is no garden spot.

The US Army conducts its APTF twice a year, MANDATORY.
All ranks, all MOSs.

But, I suppose if something’s repeated often enough...

The clowns we have as elected leaders are no longer leading or caring and even root for our defeat. With that in mind, this latest insult to the USMC mission is the sleazy leftover & recycled assault the last 5(?) CMC's wrote off. This current CMC seems easy to steer.

The Marine corps used to have a mandated failure rate in boot camp. Seems we may be getting back to that.

I prefer it, since not everyone should be allowed to wear the Eagle Globe and Anchor.

Just the best.

With the equivalent of six division-wing teams to build and train, the Marines drafted manpower as required (as did the other services). Although many did volunteer, it was total war and the government took what plan execution required.

Not frequently mentioned is the fact that, despite the wind down of combat operations in Europe, intake of manpower into the armed forces actually increased through most of 1945 due to anticipated requirements (and expected heavy casualties) in the invasion of Japan. Of a U.S. population of about 100 million, around 14 million served. The equivalent amount today would be 42 million. Presently, the armed forces has about 2.3 million active and reserve.

The maxim used during the WWII (and probably still valid today) is that it takes two years to train a division: one year for recruitment, basic training, and forming; the second year for progressively larger and harder unit training. The units participating in the early 1945 fighting had begun forming in 1943 (or earlier). Given the timing of the campaigns and length of the campaigns ((Iwo Jima - Feb 1945 - about 40 days of fighting) and (Okinawa - April 1945 - about 90 days of fighting)) even the replacements right out of basic training that participated in them had to have been in boot camp in the November 1944 to March 1945 time frame.
