Hogwash! First off, if you go back to the original quotation it says "the perfect can be the enemy of the good."
Attributing this as a concept that Reagan conceived, is just something that you as a mediocre moderate want desperately to believe in, rather than something he touted as part of the conservative movement you are now uncomfortable being identified with.
Apparently not. Maybe politics just isn't for you.
I held my nose and voted a straight Republican ballot but I still didn't vote against my Democrat Rep because he was running unopposed in a red district in a red state. I wonder how many other house seats were lost by default in red states and red districts. Probably as many as were lost because somebody stayed home.
Where are you going to get enough votes to win an election? Or are you willing to allow yourself to be voted into oblivion?
That’s your choice. It’s a free country.
Actually a few have, including Jeff Sessions from my home state. Most of them are worthless.
B.S.
Page pawing and corrupt congress critters turned of the middle of the road independent voter.
That's why the Republican party lost its majority and I'm sick and tired for being blamed instead of the real culprits.
The real truth is a significant portion of the electorate figured out those guys were hypocritical phonies.
Blame them - not loyal conservatives.
Oh! Look what you did to my heart! Oh well, good luck finding Democrats who will feed your cat and take out your garbage and tell you you're real cool. Even better luck electing independents who will get to work eliminating taxes on corporations, and getting judges to decide cases based on the Ten Commandments, and making doctors keep brain-dead patients alive at gun point... Good luck! I'll have FUN watching! |
Hey Perdogg! First, a big fat YAWN on your post. Real weighty, smart and full of originality. Not.
Now, explain this to everyone. If the Repubs in charge, just what would the immigration bill look like?
It still is for now.........
Lugar the first to go in the harbor. Ditto.
The senate has always been that way. They think they are the House of Lords. However, we must keep the noise up anyway. Congress is definitely more susceptible, they are up for re-election next year. Only one third the senate is up every two years. We must fight, the alternative is to take up arms, and if this amnesty passes we will definitely see a civil war in this country in less than a generation.
Agreed on all points. MY point was that the early start to all this election jazz has many of us weary already, and I’ve never been a big fan of announcing that an announcement will be forthcoming when everybody knows already what the announcement will be. Seems a little silly. I’m not adverse to a Thompson/Hunter ticket - in fact, I think it would breathe some fresh air into the stagnating crowd of candidates.
I was on an Irish blog the other evening and they were advising their citizens who are here illegally to contact their embassy as soon as this becomes law, and their embassy will assist in helping illegal Irish get their "z-visas."
Ireland is very tough on illegal immigration when it is in Ireland, but see no contradiction when they are here. I thought no wonder we get cr@pped on by every other nation in the world, we are so freakin' stupid. (Please excuse my language as I am so very angry.)
I think that it is time to hold our noses, vote out the bastards, let the chips fall where they may...”

RE-ELECT NO ONE ! ! ! !
Read my essay and you will see that I mentioned that. Here in Brooklyn we had a huge irish illegal community. Most went back home since the irish economy headed north. The ones left here are the loafers who couldn’t make a go back home. With the proper incentives they will go home. At the moment the governemnt nor the elites want any incentives. They think american workers make too much money to compete against slave labor in China. Since they can’t legalize slavery, they want to bring it about without calling it that.
I voted myself into oblivion by voting Republican across the board in the last two elections. How could I do worse?
This current administration has done more, than any other in my memory, to make me distrust the federal government. That's Bush's legacy in my book!!!
Your post makes little sense...as far as I can tell much of what you mention happened during the Republican’s time. I am totally sick of elitist Repubs mistrust and dislike of Christian conservatives. We are blamed for every loss. We have a right to our opinions and to champion those issues that are important to us. Like I said try getting elected without us. Enjoy your time in the minority. I think it’s the big tent types like you who basically are not much different from Democrats who cause Repubs to lose elections: there is nothing to vote for-just another politician sticking his finger in the wind...no principles-just an overwhelming desire to get elected one more time.
