the capability of fully charging the pack in less than ten minutes......

A little long for a fill-up, but not too bad.

I could pull over for a ten minute charge every two hours.

Get me a frosty cold soda pop and a free map while they whisk broom the deck and empty the ashtrays.

Assuming it's true (always an issue with press releases), it does bring up a few questions, such as the effects of rapid charging on battery lifetime.

I'm thinking that this rapid recharge will end up significantly reducing the effective life of the battery.

That’s 210,000 watts for 10 minutes with 100% charging efficiency - which is very unlikely... Or 875 Amps at 240 Volts... That’ll take another larger battery pack as a charger. Nobodies home or normal business is going to be able to supply that kind of short term demand directly. Typical modern homes have a 200 Amp panel.

"demonstrating the capability of fully charging the pack in less than ten minutes......"

"Boss, I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that we developed a battery capable of being fully charged in less than ten minutes."

"The bad news is it requires a substation-sized power supply operating at 14,700 volts and 600 amps. We're still working on the plug design."

Ok, at the risk of being laughed off this forum, I am going to relate a true story. My dad bought a new batt. in 1950-51. The name of the batt. was “Red Giant”, it was a 6 volt that had a lifetime warranty. He put it in a 1941 Ford. Now, this is where it gets really weird, The guy at the gas station that sold him the batt. told him that it would recharge itself after being completely discharged and that you could put your finger into the cell and stick it in your mouth and not be burned or taste acid. I was 8 or 9 years old at the time but I do remember him demonstrate this several times. I just got off the phone with him where I asked about the thing recharging itself and he told me that on several ocasions that he had drained the batt. down until it would not burn the dome light and after letting it sit for about 5 min., it would crank the car. He said he would have kept the batt. when he traded cars but the 1952 Ford he bought had 12 volt sys. and besides, he figured all batt. would eventually be made like this. Ok, go ahead and let the flames fly, but my dad just told me that at 84 he was too old to risk lying about something that could not benefit him in any way.
