First bulletin:
German radio is reporting the invasion is on. No confirmation from Allied Commanders. Might be a German propaganda stunt.
German radio reports German forces shelling Allied landing craft near LeHarve. Also sightings of paratroops landing near the mouth of the Seine. Still no confirmation from Allied Commanders.
I am listening to 40s on 4 on Directv for the past 25 minutes and it isn’t on. I thought it was XM. Guess not! I am a little disappointed.
Isn’t 40s on 4 the channel it is on?
They had a June 5th Roosevelt address to the nation earlier in the evening.
It’s on the satellite radio only, NOT on the internet stream or apparently not the Direct TV stream either.
Dear XM Radio,
That’s pretty damn asinine.
Yes, that the right channel, but remember it's running in real time. So far there have been only two short bulletins mixed in with the regular music programming -- just as it was in 1944. No instant communications back then.
Ok. They finally said something on Directv (channel 801- 40s on 4) that it is only available on XM satellite.
How stupid!!!!

Thank you for that, but it looks like I won’t be able to hear it since I don’t have XM Satellite. An announcer on Directv announced that it is only available on satellite.
What a diffrence between now and then in media coverage though. I remember Aaron Brown on CNN showed two different battles in different remote parts of Iraq live during beginning of Gulf War II at the same time. One was in the southern part and the other was something happening in northern Iraq (don’t remember exactly what).
Very depressing. I signed up for the free trial on XM and just found out that it is not on the Internet.
Well, that is stupid.
They are now playing the third bulletin recapping the earlier reports from German radio and reiterating that the German station broadcasting the information is a known propaganda station. The German radio broadcast was recorded in London by the AP. No information from Allied commanders, but the NBC reporter is speculating that this could be a feint if real as Churchill had said something similar might happen following the operations in Sicily. War Dept in Washington just issued a statement that they have no information about Allied landings on the coast of France. Reporter says be wary that it could all be a provocation by the Nazis to get people to talk and spill real information. Returning to music.
Latest report: No confirmation from Allies of invasion. Now multiple German radio stations are reporting Allied invasion underway however. Reported paratroops landing along the mouth of the Seine and heavy shelling of landing craft in LeHarve. According the the German radio stations, German shock troops engaged with Allies on the coast. LeHarve under heavy bombardment. Calais and Dunkirk also now reported under aerial attack. The AP has also overheard a BBC broadcast from London that just issued instructions to the people of Holland to leave the roads and return to their houses. Still no confirmation from Allied commanders.
The correct spelling is Le Havre. Trust me.
Next bulletin: Germans proclaiming that the Allied invasion of Europe has begun with paratroops landing and a Naval battle near Le Havre. Recapping the earlier reports. No Allied confirmation. War Dept has no information of a French invasion. BBC instructions to the people of Holland to keep off the roads, keep away from railroad lines, and keep off bridges. Also BBC broadcasts to French to stand by for instruction leaflets which would be dropped from aircraft. No confirmation from Allies. Analysis from War Dept correspondent who explains the German need to find out where the invasion is or will be. Says they are fishing for information. Emphasizes that Allies will not confirm the real location. Says as far as the Allies are concerned “this is just another night.”
Next bulletin: Londoners awakened by the roar of a huge fleet of aircraft flying overhead headed south.
Next bulleting: Recapping the broadcasts to the people of France and Holland. Roar of planes over London. Radio Luxembourg reporting fleet of Allied bombers over Germany. Allied Commanders still have not confirmed any of this. Recapping the news of shelling at Le Havre. Airborne troops landing all over the area from the Seine to Normandy. All this info is from German sources, except the news of the planes over London. Nothing mentioned on Paris radio. Nothing announced officially so far.
BUMP. Just started listening from work.
Yep, and they clung to that ‘feint’ stuff for almost six weeks.
This has been broadcast every year for the last 5 or 6 years on Live 365. Here is a link where you can hear it for free
XM is a latecomer to the party. They are also not being exactly honest when they say that "No one else would undertake such an endeavor".
Forgot about this. Just tuned in here at work.
