I have a 14-inch metal rod in my left leg that occasionally sets off airport metal detectors. This incident is EXACTLY why I never explain to TSA by saying, Im packing a rod. I usually carry lots of camera equipment, but I never say "I shoot anyting interesting, especially people".

Cinematical's Scott Weinberg uncovered a gem regarding director Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas) and an allegedly true incident that went down at LAX.

A hell of an interesting movie, with Elizabeth Shue too.

"Security asks anything they damn well please, Citizen."You do not encounter security or TSA when processing through immigration then customs. Your first encounter with TSA or security is when you process for a follow-on flight.
The article mistakenly said Figgis was questioned about the purpose of his visit by security. He was not. He was questioned by the Immigration officer.

"Nowhere in the article does the term "TSA" appear."I beg to differ. From the second paragraph of the linked article:
"Apparently this is a fact lost with the TSA and immigration bunch at Los Angeles International Airport."

"I cant believe TSA is that stupid."It was not the TSA. It was Immigration, which is even more surprising. A simple, "What do you mean?" would have gone a long way.

TSA does not lock anyone up. That is what the LEO’s do.
