County violated rights, law, ACLU says

PHOENIX (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit claiming Maricopa County officials violated the rights of a quarantined tuberculosis patient for months by treating him like a criminal.

The US District Court complaint seeks what it calls appropriate accommodations for Daniels, rather than severe and "inhumane" jail conditions.

Robert England, the county's tuberculosis control officer, declined comment on the suit.

The 27-year-old Daniels has been isolated in a jail ward at Maricopa Medical Center for 10 months -- even though he was not convicted or charged with any crime.

His attorney says Daniels has been victimized by constitutional violations.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio maintains Daniels must abide by security measures. He says Daniels must be treated like everyone else in his jail system.

Daniels moved to Arizona in January 2006 after contracting extreme multi-drug-resistant TB.

He'd come to the US from Russia in search of work and a college education.

This "patient" repeatedly lied to everyone and went around exposing the public to TB, hence why he was treated "like a criminal".

They should make Daniels the house guest of
the ACLU lawyers until all of this is cleared up.

The ACLU launches biological war on the USA. Mass murder of the US population is its clear goal.

When the ACLU takes this to SCOTUS to THEIR personal
special Judges, to keep their tuberculin-shedding client(s)
out infecting the public, will they honor the court
with their client?

[and what kind of hazard suits do THEY use?]

Nit-picking and off-topic, but I can’t believe that journalistic and editing procedures have become so lax that they didn’t even include the guy’s first name.

It’s real simple. We don’t want someone walking around infecting the population. So shut up ACLU. Another thing we should push for is taking funds away from the ACLU.

Too bad they didn’t do this with the first known AIDs patients, it would have been eradicated by now.

I agree he is a danger to the public. This has nothing to do with his privacy when his condition could affect thousands of people.
