I'm for Huckabee, but unfortunately, he's having a difficult time winning support on this web site.

If Fred Thompson get into the race, it may be over for Huckabee.

This was your first post in over two years. Are you in the biz?

He’ll make a good Senator. Thompson’s in and that forks Huckabee IMO. Not to mention his immigration record is a non-starter with the current Amnesty spotlight. I did however see a monkey fly once though.

The campaign, at the very least, needs to hire a different writer. No offense.

Nah. I'm mostly just an observer.

For some reason I dig Huckabee too. It's unfortunate he can't break through, as I think he's much more qualified than the top 3 (as well as Fred Thompson). I know he doesn't get a whole lot of love on FR, but I figured those closet Huckabee supporters might be interested in his newest efforts to drum up support.

I don't think Huckabee supports amnesty. But regardless, I think amnesty should be the least of everyone's worries with what we're looking at in the Top 3+1.

Thompson’s in and that forks Huckabee IMO.

With there being at least one more debate (Tues night) before Thompson declares, Huckabee still has a chance to try and close the gap by performing in a setting where he's shown he can excel.

I read a theor once that some thought I was a Huckabee operative. Of course others (and some of the same I think) also cosidered maybe I was a Hillary operaive. Funny really. I’m lik you, I just want to see good conservative canidates in the running.

Ok, let’s say I put Amnesty aside, which I will not do. You’ve got 2 Southerners on the ticket when Thompson announces. Will that fly? Good question. I’m not sure it would. But, and I’ll clarify that with but...Romney is NOT a conservative and he would be polarized next to Thompson.

Who does that leave, Ron Paul...well, anyway I won’t go there. You’ve got Duncan Hunter which for some reason can’t seem to get a brick under his tire. I’m not even sure now if he’s electable as #2.

Tancredo...great guy, no chance. Newt Gingrich, doubt he’ll run. Gilmore, no traction.

So setting everyone aside and putting Huckabee, Romney & Thompson up against eachothr, I don’t see where Thompson would be advised to go with a Romney #2. I also WOULD be surprised to see Thompson put another “Heartland” southerner with him as #2. Anyway, there’s just a few thoughts I’ve had about things as they’ve progressed.

Keep up what you’re doing and try to ignore the disruptors. Also, don’t underestimate the people’s feelings on Amnesty and securing that southern border right now. A candidate will get scortched trying to buck those numbers, IMO.

I doubt we'll see two Southerners on the ticket - however, Clinon and Gore ran as a pair of Southerns and won.
