With his role on NBC's "Law & Order," a stint on Paul Harvey's radio show, and the buzz from his newly announced presidential aspirations, former senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee is getting a lot of air time these days.
But just when you thought he had saturated the airwaves, his voice has found another outlet in new radio ads.
They're not for his campaign, but for a company called LifeLock, an Arizona-based firm that protects customers from identity theft.
Beginning this week, Thompson's voice will grace 60-second ads for the company on radio networks nationwide. (The ads, which run through June, can be heard locally on WBZ radio.)
The first half of the ads salutes various military heroes; the second half is a pitch for the company.
Betsey Griffin, media director for Lavidge Co., LifeLock's ad agency, said Thompson agreed to do the radio spots because LifeLock has a special offer for servicemen and women deployed around the world.
"He felt like it was a good fit," she said.

BE NOT MISLED——WE’LL WIN WITH FRED
What gives you the impression he is not in the race. Fred is getting more publicity and more exposure than the other candidates combined, at least outside of the MSM.
I want that grand entrance - that “I’m in” speech where he blows everyone away - and it’s carried on the national news - as “breaking news”.
He’ll lose a lot of airtime if he declares. It’s a tough decision.
Thx!
Fred should wait as long as possible to get in the race. He has it too good right now.
Can someone please tell me whether or not he supported McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform?
If so, that is pretty inexcusable, as it was such a blatant affront to the First Amendment.
against, for, against, for, don’t know, for.
Any other questions?
OpinionJournal.com columnist John Fund interviewed former Senator, current Law & Order regular and possible presidential candidate Fred Thompson in the weekend edition of the Journal. Some highlights:
Many on the right remain angry Mr. Thompson supported the campaign finance law sponsored by his friend, John McCain. There are problems with people giving politicians large sums of money and then asking them to pass legislation, Mr. Thompson says. Still, he notes he proposed the amendment to raise the $1,000 per person hard money federal contribution limit. Conceding that McCain-Feingold hasnt worked as intended, and is being riddled with new loopholes, he throws his hands open in exasperation. Im not prepared to go there yet, but I wonder if we shouldnt just take off the limits and have full disclosure with harsh penalties for not reporting everything on the Internet immediately.
On Iraq, he admits we are left with nothing but bad choices. However, he says the worst choice would be to have Osama bin Laden proven right when he predicted America wouldnt have the stomach for a tough fight.
On domestic issues, Mr. Thompson says a major reason Republicans lost last November was that they aided and abetted runaway government spending. Yet Democrats, he contends, are incapable of following through on their pledges to be fiscally prudent. Their political coalition needs more revenue like a car requires gasoline, he laughs. Reagan showed what can be done if you have the will to push for tough choices and the ability to ask the people to accept them.
Lower marginal tax rates have proven to be a key to prosperity now by Kennedy, Reagan and Bush. Its time millionaires serving in the Senate learned not to overly tax other people trying to get wealthy. Read the full article.
Thx!
With identity theft and immigration reform, the stage is being set for identification marks on each person. Logically there will be no other choice because the safety and security of the people will require it. Personal identification marks are scary to some because they are a precurser to the apocalypse.
No effective personal Marks-of-the-Beast, no Apocalypse.
I wouldn't worry too much.
He knows and supports the idea that political contributions (from individuals), is free speech, he screwed up on M/F and has said so.
I can accept that, and at least he's willing to own up to his mistakes.
Good grief. He dominated the last two days in the news, just by saying he is running. A news search turns up 1,800 mentions of his name in the last 24 hours.
He’s had four months to prepare. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for him to want to get his ducks in a row and make his own decisions.
I have never seen so many whiny people around here. Amazing how all of them are supporting other candidates.
Got to listen to him (a little, anyway) on “Curtis & Kuby” this morning. It sounded like he was already in the race.
I can accept a regretted vote, too, but what the heck was he thinking. Fred made his name as a small gov. fella. That was a bad vote on his part, and now we are stuck with this crappy law. (not that GWB helped, he signed it).

If we were RootyMclame-ites we’d be whining too. Their boys are holding “aces and 8s”.
