The Diaperheads Did Have An Air Gun thingy
True, the same can also be said for graduating from a community college. But it is an important event that says, "I stuck it out once," in a young person's life. That's important to remember, even if you just have a fast-food job. You might stick it out long enough to be shift leader, or something. Add in a couple of years of that community college, and maybe you'll be a shift supervisor or assistant manager.
Anyway, the punishment did not fit the crime.
They have another PC agenda here. You see some people dont get as much applause at these graduations than others, which endangers their self-esteem. This is completely unacceptable form the liberal perspective. So to ensure the equal outcome for all of the students, none of them can be allowed to receive any recognition.
That is just WRONG!
They do, but different & like us..............
When I spoke with their boss the next day, he apologized for both of them and admitted they pulled this nutty behavior often.
All in all, Galesburg isn't on my list of places to visit again any time soon. After reading this, it is even less of a tourist spot in my mind.
I can admittedly see both sides of this. It is sad that a school would find it necessary to go to such extremes to distinguish commencement exercises from a pep rally.
Let me repeat myself.
If the people cheering really are disruptive, have them removed.
Do you see anything in this article mentioning them having the people that were actually being disruptive leave? If they were being really disruptive, have them arrested for disturbing the peace.
Punish the people who were causing the problem. Punish the people who's behavior was unacceptable.
Is that such a difficult concept to grasp?
What the....??? Since when is a 3.4 GPA anywhere near honors status?
They named her Caisha. Her destiny was sealed from that day.
I’ve been to a few of these. They should have two ceremonies: one that is for people who want to hear their kid’s name and one for people who want to hoot and bark so no one can hear anything.
The schools could think about extending the graduation ceremony by X seconds per student to allow for the cheering for each one. If it were 3 second per graduate in a class of 400, that’s a total of 20 minutes. Big whoop.
At all my kids graduations, each and every graduate was cheered when receiving his/her diploma. As they should be. If memory serves, same held true at college when each of the colleges of the university had its own diploma ceremony. This is a big day for the kids even if they don’t know where the piece of paper is a week later.
Especially when many schools have ways of getting higher that a 4.0.
“Anyway, the punishment did not fit the crime.”
Agreed, what else can we expect from our unionized child indoctrination centers.

Because there is high honors, honors and honors average.
Our rotten school system does a lousy job of teaching everything including mathematics. A basic premise of fractions is the part is not greater than whole. A basic tenet of a civil society is that the individual’s selfish needs for attention do not trump the common needs of the group. In this case, I side with the school, although I think the wisest thing would be not to attend these sickening pretentious pompous ceremonies in the first place. Graduating from H S may be a big deal with dropout rates at a ridiculous high, but a H S diploma does not reflect that much literacy given the rotten state of public education today. The wise would not show up for such events. I did not really want to go to my H S graduation but I did so out of respect to my family. I skipped the next three graduations ceremonies in which I earned some diplomas beyond my H S one.
The families causing the problem were punished. What do you think would have happened in there if someone had been kicked out?
