ANY preacher should know you can’t use the pulpit to direct votes for a particular candidate by name.

First of all, he was not directing votes *for* anyone, just against Romney. Second, it doesn't seem restrict the pronouncements from the pulpit the Reverend Jesse Jackson, nor others of that ilk.

No, the Bible is not censored in Sweden. It’s just “irrelevant” to today.

Not to worry; the day will come when God will sort it all out.

Okay, one more time...if Mitt is Satan, then what do you call, let’s say, Hillary? And if they’re both Satan, we run into Jesus’ famous question: How can Satan oppose Satan?

Which, of course, is the opposite of what was intended by the First Amendment. Right?

They do seem to forget about that "nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof" part of the first amendment, don't they?

If this "preacher" really thinks Mitt is Satan, or working for Satan, then he's got the right to say that.

I don't trust Mitt as a politician, but as a Mormon? Who cares. Most all the Mormons I've known are a lot better *people" than a whole bunch of other folks I could name. They have never been "pushy" in their attempts to proselytize me, again, unlike some other groups. They've also never said I'd go to Hell if I didn't take up their religion, again, unlike some other folks.

In any case, this preacher can say anything he likes.

Indeed he can, but he'd be wise to also remember this part of the Constitution (From Art. VI).

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Sheesh. There is no religious test here. Get real.

A religious test would be making one of the legal qualifications for public office membership in a particular church or sect. This is nothing of the sort.

Oh... I don't know. His main squeeze maybe? A party favor? I give up. What?

What I said was they do not pay taxes.

Corportate profits are indeed taxed. They're taxed twice in fact, if they pay it out to the shareholders, *they* have to pay taxes on it as well.

Never said it was. Although it is a religious test, just not a governmental one. "Don't vote for Mormons" is a regilious test, just like "Don' vote for Gun Grabbers" is a political one. "Don't vote for Mormons" would be less of a religious test if the reason for making that statement was some objection to the political stanch of the Mormon Church, rather than their rather unusual, or least non mainstream, religious views and beliefs. Like I said, I could easily vote for a Mormon, just not Mitt, unless it's Mitt verse Her Heinousness of course.

We had lots of Mormons at my Air Force ROTC field taining, in part because at that time, BYU had the largest AFROTC enrollment in the nation and remains in the top three even today. They had a Cadet Wing, when most schools had a rump Group, that is one a bit short of squadrons. My first roomate, we switched halfway through, was a Mormon, from the DC area, who went to BYU.

Listen El Gato, (I really don't know why I am going here with you) Corporations DO NOT pay taxes. Their "corporate profits" you are talking about are paid out to their shareholders in the form of dividends and their operating officers in the form of bonuses long before they file their "income taxes" with the IRS. If a corporation is paying income tax or it shows a "profit" then that corporation isn't going to be around very long. You also need to learn about "loses" and how long a corporation can declare the "loses" on those 1 in 3 or 4 years they do show a "profit" which in turn negates any "taxes" the "corporation" might have to pay.

I don't mean to be rude but you do not know what you are talking about. My original statement stands. Corporations pay just as much in taxes as does a "Church" and like the Corporation's benefactors (shareholders, officers, etc.) the Church members PAY TAXES!!!

Another thing... Most corporate officers and share holders also belong to a "Church."

One more thing The Cat. Most local and state governments waive any property taxes a corporation might have to pay because the local government wants the jobs in order to stimulate their local economies and to increase their tax base.

My mistake, he cannot direct votes for or against anyone.

Second, it doesn’t seem restrict the pronouncements from the pulpit the Reverend Jesse Jackson, nor others of that ilk.

No argument here, but hard to shut them down while being willing to give this one a pass.
