Do our troops over there carry their gas masks (technically, MOPP gear) around with them a lot? I’ve had to sometimes in training here in the U.S. - and it sucks. Especially when you can’t use inserts and you wear glasses and you have to put the thing on. I would hope they wouldn’t have to carry it on their person all the time, but have it close by. I like to look at pictures of combat in Iraq, but I never see them carrying MOPP gear. Of course, the odds of a NBC attack while clearing a building is extremely low.

There are worse jobs in their organization. Suicide bombers never make it very far up the chain, but leaders get to play self-important revolutionary person of historic dimensions for a few weeks.

I wore a gas mask for 4 hours last October. All I was doing was sitting on a couch watching TV (except for the first hour, when I tried to type out an e-mail, but got frustrated with the gloves). When done, I literally poured my sweat out of the mask. And it wasn't even hot, maybe 80 degrees and high humidity. Not 120-140 degrees.

Lately, everyone has gone back to that, yes. Mililtary and attached civilians alike. We cannot leave a secured base without one..and the convoy commanders check for it before you can get into the vehicle. Same with boarding helicopters.

Fallujah may need a little gone over by the looks of things. I'll bet these clowns are mostly holding up in the NW corner, (Julien [sp?] district) adjacent to the northern railroad yards.
Lots of very narrow streets densly packed with row homes.
A lot like some the high density areas in Sadr City.
Been some two years since I viewed sat maps of this city.

"He was ready with a Gas attack....damn!"
Real nice guy ah. Damn stupid Sunni are to blame for their problems with AQ. They could have bought into the new government way back when instead of continuing to endorse AQ. Now they piss and moan how AQ treats their people. But better late then never. Soon there will be no safe havens for AQ to reside in Iraq. If they try to disperse to remote desert areas in al Anbar they really becomes easier targets. The large cities have been their best areas to hide. Now their being exposed left and right.
Can't help but wonder what UBL and Zawaharri must be thinking these days of their grand plans. Everywhere their people try to make a permenant spot, they get their asses kicked out or they are killed off. Hopefully the Lebanones army shall put a royal screw on the goons in north Lebanon over the next month or so. Keep the pricks on the run, give them no safe haven.
Finally people are starting to think a bit like Lt General George S. Patton Jr.
