Russell "Mohammed" Defreitas appeared in federal court in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 2, 2007. The former airline cargo worker was arrested in connection with a plot to blow up fuel tanks at JFK airport.

Didn't that TWA 800 flight take off from JFK before it exploded?

Yes, and so did American Airlines flight 587. On November 12, 2001, ninety seconds after takeoff from JFK, it nosedived into a residential neighborhood in the Rockaways. It was the 2nd worst aviation crash in U.S. history.

I always thought it might have been a shoe bomber, but the NTSB said the pilot “inappropriately handled” the aircraft and set off a chain of events that led to the separation of the tail.
