-here’s an interesting thread on theology. Amusing.
But having said that, my main objection to Romney is not his LDS connection--but that he is bad candidate IMO. He is very disingenuous on several key positions.
He may be a good Mormon, by LDS standards, but his processed and packaged demeanor and message is no more appealing to this conservative than Barack Obama.
I support a real person with real solutions--Duncan Hunter...
Samaritans were as reviled during the days of Jesus Christ day as the Mormons are today. They were denounced for having corrupt and pagan beliefs. Yet Jesus Christ used the example of a Samaritan to teach this great lesson.
What do yo suppose will be the fate of the Samaritan at the final judgment?

Jesus also spoke to a Samaritan woman at the well. I am that woman. I am a dispicable outcast, a lowly woman. Christ looked into my life and saw me for who I am and loved me anyway. Now I am running from the well to tell the samaritans what I have discovered, that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.
As for the good Samaritan....it is a parable, I’m not certain that good samaritan existed except as an example for us. If he did exist he certainly was a good man, and we are admonished to emulate him (whether he was real or a parable.)
His works didn’t earn the good Samaritan a spot in heaven however. There is only one way to Heaven, through Jesus Christ. Your good works for Christ will earn you a crown which you will cast at the feet of God....not for your glory but for his. Everything we do is for his glory, or it is a filthy rag.
The woman at the well came to my mind also.

Then follow Him, and act on everything He said, because even Jesus told people that they will be judged by their fruits, and that means THE RESULTS AND ACTIONS OF THEIR LIFE, and in order to do that, you have to JUDGE someone, or some false religion.
Do yourself a favor: look up websites that critique mormonism
You’ll see.
Back to the bloodfest.
God bless you all. I'm leaving. I have other things to do today.
Not true.
The Jews do not accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Jews do not believe in the Trinity.”
Interesting discussion. Whether Jews and Christians worship the same God depends upon the the actual nature of God.
If Jews are right, and Jesus is merely a man, then you are right.
If Christians are right and Jesus was the God of the Old Testament who revealed the Father (Both Jews and Christians agree the Holy Spirit comes from God, regardless of its nature), then you are wrong.
It behooves us to determine whether Jesus truly was God or not. He based His proof upon His resurrection. His body was not found.
If you believe in the God of the Old Testament, I suggest praying and asking Him about Jesus. He will answer that prayer.
If you don’t believe in God or aren’t sure, just ask Him whether He exists. If He doesn’t, no harm is done. If He does, He will reveal Himself to you.
“Jesus was the first to teach the separation of church and state. His followers were instructed to Render unto Caesar, that which is Caesars, and to God, that which is Gods. This was a direct challenge to the unified powers of Caesar as both priest and king. It was required of Roman citizens to proclaim Caesar is Lord. But for Christians, only Jesus is Lord. For this reason, a person could not be both a Christian and a good citizen of Rome.”
Caesar was not only priest, or king, he was also regarded as a God. Oh wait, Mitt is also a High Priest who believes he will become God and is just now trying to become president/king.
The conflicts a Mitt presidency would raise among Christians are quite mind-boggling.
colorcountry kinda already answered my question, but if you insist..
They have secret (sacred) ceremonies, and Temple buildings where only the very best are allowed, only the good mormons may attend. Try to get a straight answer out of them. Try it with Romney.
Some background on me just in case youve missed it before. I was born into a five generation LDS home, baptized at eight, graduated from MIA and Seminary, Temple Married. I stayed a true believer until I was in my mid twenties. I spent the next twenty years as an agnostic, and so I really didnt see the big difference between LDS and Christianity. Five years ago I became a new creature in Christ. There is a difference. If any Mormon tell you there isnt, he/she is a liar.”
I am in the second generation of my family to be Mormon, although my mother was not. Temple ceremonies, as you must know, if you were a Mormon, are sacred, not secret. I note in my services each week, our Bishop is trying to get more and more of our people qualified to attend Temple ceremonies, not reduce the number who attend. This is inconsistent with the ceremonies being “secret.”
I was not a true believer, did not get baptized at 8, despite attending LDS services with my grandmother. My mother remarried when I was ten, to a Southern Baptist minister. That man so turned me off religion that I gave up my search for God for many years. This doesn't make all Southern Baptists bad, just that one. It took me some years to figure that out, though, too.
In my late thirties, after my wife became LDS, I started looking again, just mildly interested. One of the missionaries I talked to asked me to pray to God to know the truth about the Book of Mormon, which I did. It is true. Either that, or God allowed someone else to lie to me about it when I prayed to him and asked him for the truth. Do you honestly believe that he would so answer a sincere prayer?
I am not the best example of a Latter-day Saint. I don’t go to church nearly as often as I should. I’m no longer eligible to attend the Temple. I’ve finally, after nearly a decade of trying, given up drinking caffeinated drinks. This is not absolutely required, but a good idea on many levels, including our President and Prophet saying good members of our church don’t drink them. I am, in other words, trying my best to follow the teachings of my church. When I read in the scriptures, and in our church magazines, things that uplift me I feel, again, the feelings I felt first that day I was told the Book of Mormon is true. That testimony also told me that the Bible is true, btw. The BoM stands as support to the Bible, not alone.
I suppose now you will call me a liar. I’m not. I’m just another man trying to understand and follow God’s will for myself and my family. I ask him to bless you, and help you to do the same. I ask this in the name of My Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
You are right about the Muslims; they hold Jesus (Isa, as they call him) a prophet, but not the Son of God. You are way wrong on Mormons.
Don't take it personally, when they say "Christian", they mean "evangelical Christian".
Jesus is my Lord and Saviour, but the Mormans contaminate it all with Joseph Smith and a bunch of hooey.
As I said, I admire what I know of Mitt Romney and the way he lives his life. I am not at all interested in his faith and do not accept that it is Christian.
-when I say Christian I mean Roman Catholic. I am not an “evangelical” Christian. I am the big “C” Christian! LOL
