Beyond Bush - What the world needs is an open, confident America.
Newsweek ^ | June 3, 2007 | Fareed Zakaria

June 11, 2007 issue - In the fall of 1982, I arrived in the United States as an 18-year-old student from India. The country was in rough shape. That December unemployment hit 10.8 percent, higher than at any point since World War II. Interest rates hovered around 15 percent. Abroad, the United States was still reeling from Vietnam and Watergate.

Americans are a bunch of whiners. Whole political parties have been built on whining. I won’t mention which one.

The strongest nation in the history of the world, we see ourselves besieged [indeed we are -- Fareed] and overwhelmed [if so, it is only because of the weak spined appeasers in Congress and elsewhere who prefer submission to liberty].

Actually Zakaria has got it about right when the rhetoric is adjusted for the twists he imparts because he torques from the left.

It's not nonsense of all and I have been posting substantially identical pieces for more than a year now.

“What the world needs is an open, confident America.”

No, what the world needs is an America with term limits. This way politicians can get back to doing what is right for this country instead of doing right for their pockets and power.

CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!

Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.

STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!

The best way to stop Shamnesty

I’m quite certain that Zakaria will decree that “these policies are for the USA, but not for Singapore or Malaysia!”.

Noticed that this chap has been talking both ways for years since his “illiberal democracy” thesis years ago. He wanted to trash Slovakia under Mercer-era and Venezuela under Chavez and then praise Mahathir’s Malaysia, not realizing that they are of the same populist illiberal democracy types.
