I ask this question about a possible Fred Thompson/Mitt Romney Presidential ticket because many conservatives still question Mitt’s “conservatism”, especially on all social issues, while many conservatives may also end up refusing to vote in the majority for a Mormon.

When it really comes down to it, most people don’t really think about a VP as the President’s back up. VP choice comes down to geographic or demographic advantage. From that standpoint Mitt seems like he could be a pretty good choice. As an ex-Mormon I can say that I don’t subscribe to their thoroughly messed up theology etc. but in general you couldn’t ask for a better neighbor. I’m not sure that is exactly a ringing endorsement for a Presidential candidate but it really is the best I can give you.
