[.. In the south -- where Fred wins easily without him -- perhaps; but in the rest of the country Gingrich would only be a drag on Thompson. ..]

Only to some democrats.. Most democrats have no idea of who Gingrich is..
And not a few republicans..

America is quite dumbed down...
Newt is a charmer.. he could charm the socialism right out of a RINO...

Like with Rudy, you could find at least two women who didn't find him that charming. Of course, Rudy's exes are both still alive. Newt's first died shortly after he served divorce papers to her on her deathbed.

Charming.

What’s up with Newt’s drinking of the global-warming-is-caused-by-human-activity Kool Aid, anyway?

“In his first portion of allotted time Gingrich said there were two undisputed areas of scientific consensus on global warming: that the earth is getting hotter and the warming had been caused by human activity.”

“At one point, Kerry asked Gingrich what he would say to conservatives like Sen. James Inhofe (R.-Okla.) who do not believe global warming is caused by human activity. Gingrich said, ‘The evidence is sufficient that we should move to the most effective possible steps to reduce carbon.’”
