Nasser, to try to save some face for his giant mistakes told the Arab world that his loss was because America and Great Brittan helped Israel. It was a total lie, in fact, when Israel asked President Johnson for help, he refused them. That lie is still alive today as the whole Arab world rallied back to Nasser believing that lie. Nasser actually resigned but the people insisted he return to power and he did.

Related: NPR did a story yesterday and said that when Israel attacked, they destroyed the Egyptian air force on the ground and quickly overwhelmed the Egyptian defenses. Jordan, meanwhile, was sitting on the sidelines. Nasser send word to King Hussein, basically saying: "We are winning. If you hope to gain any Israeli lands, you better join us in our triumphant march to Jerusalem." So Jordan committed troops (and also lost).

Nasser was quite a liar.
