By not screaming long and loud about these barbarities, Amnesty and similar NGOs are in effect stating that these barbarians are unredeemable animals on which attempts at correction will be ineffective. A very patronizing attitude, not to mention destructive. Because, thus relieved of any accountability for their actions, the savages will go on unconcerned to the next atrocity, much as we walk or breathe the air.
In contrast, NGO objections against U.S. transgressions, however insignificant they may be, do get results. Abetted by our media and the opposition party's antiwar wing, each new charge sends the nation into weeks of guilt-ridden self-reflection. This encourages more browbeating by the NGO's, and so on and on it goes.
