I'm afraid your (earlier referred) comment remains indeed the dumbest quote I've seen all week - and today is Wednesday!

To damn an entire generation is virtually racist. I'm calling Johnnie Cochran back from the grave; we'll be in touch.

Dude, take the crack pipe out of your mouth.

Reread what I wrote.

I did NOT damn an entire generation. I damned the self-centered members of that generation. I damned the Leftists like Bill Clinton.

Do you not get it? You can’t really be that stupid, can you? I’m surprised you know that it’s Wednesday when you have so much difficulty reading basic sentences.

The liberal, self-centered Baby Boomers have caused a lot of damage to this country. If you disagree, go back to DU.

the greatest generation saved the world from the Nazis

That is becoming one of my new pet peeves.

The Greatest Generation did NOT save the world from the Nazis.

An amazing group of men and women, a subset of that generation, saved the world from the Nazis.

The vast majority of the elderly who today are whining for free drugs and other goodies had precious little to do with the task of ridding the world of that tyranny.

I give up...just like a few months ago when you went rabid on whatever subject, closing - as usual, with your signature "Go back to DU" rambling whack, which apparently gets you a rise.

Nitey nite. May the morning give you some lucidity.

Show me where, in that original post...you may be fantacizing that you did, but IT AIN'T THERE!

It was a large subset. Unlike today, you did not have a large portion of the population who wanted us to lose because it would benefit their political party. You did not have the NYTIMES leaking classified info. You did not have party leaders on the other side of the aisle acting like genuine traitors. It was different then.

Ern,

Words mean things. And little words and modifiers can drastically change the meaning of a statement or word.

My original statement that you are referring to is:

“How the WWII generation, the epitome of self-sacrifice gave rise to the most Self-ist generation is beyond me. But this country and the world will pay the price of self-centered Baby Boomers for generations to come.”

In that statement, I said the WWII generation were the epitome of self sacrifice. I then coined a term, the “self-ist” generation. After that I specifically referred to the "self-centered Baby Boomers," a very specific SUBset of the entire generation. Are all members of what is called the “Me” generation selfish? No. That term refers to those members of the generation to whom that term applies.

The radicals of the Baby Boomers (the draft dodger, war protesters, sexual revolutionary, tune-in, turn-on, and drop-out types) were not the ONLY members of that generation. They were the “self-ist” members of that generation. I coined the term (added -ist to “self”) to demonstrate that PART of the Baby Boomers turned selfishness into an ideology or form of religion. But they were not the only members of the Baby Boomers. In my opinion, they were the loud minority, like the anti-Americans of today.

In my opinion based upon what I’ve studied, the MAJORITY of Baby Boomers were pro-American. Countering the selfish part of the Baby Boomers you have the Viet Nam vets, for whom I have vast respect and admiration. They are like their parents in their selflessness (self-sacrifice). And I also know that the majority of Americans supported our troops then. Unfortunately, the demands of the loud minority were what the media broadcast then, were the demands that led to harmful change, and what are praised today by America’s Left.

Obviously, when I wrote that generations will pay the price of the self-centered Baby Boomers, I was referring to the harm that the radical members of that generation have done to American culture and the economic damage they have caused by Socialist policies (big government, welfare state, and now, prescription medication and the failing of social security).

DFU understood what I was saying. You simply misunderstood my statement.

I did NOT criticize ALL Baby Boomers, just the Bill and Hillary Clinton types (the self-centered ones) from that generation.

The “Greatest Generation” militarily defeated the Nazis, but they failed to defeat the cultural Marxists who have all but destroyed this country. Remember that the Greatest Generation are the fathers and mothers of the Baby Boomers.

Not that I disagree with you about kids today but from what generation did the Nazis spring forth? I never have particularly liked the term "The Greatest Generation" particularly when one takes into account Roosevelt and his Supreme Court and the liberal agenda that followed WW2 for the next thirty years.

I must be argumentative this morning, or something. Have a good day Doug and I hope that you have taken measures to protect yourself after the recent airplane attack. Stay away from Parks and planes. We need you around here.

Two other employees where I work were talking about D-Day yesterday. The older one asked the younger one (20 something) if he knew what day it was. The sad thing was that the younger one had no clue.

Thank God for the courageous Allied (U.S., U.K., and Canadian) soldiers who landed that day to liberate Europe.

You wrote what I was thinking when I read the headline.

Perhaps now is the time to start planning a nationwide march to save America for June 6, 2008.

I agree completely. Of course, the WWII generation didn’t realize that academe had been planted with Stalinists, who were waiting to “re-educate” the next generation.

Check out the exchange between me and ErnBatvia. Talk about completely misunderstanding the point I was making. Shees.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, I kind of don’t like the label “Greatest Generation.” They were a great generation and I admire them immensely. But the label implies that that era was a pinnacle no other generation reached and no other could. I think the Founding Fathers were at least on a par. I hope we or a future generation can bring us back from the brink. That will be a great generation, too.
