All Eyes on Mitt [Political Blogosphere Report]
National Journal ^ | 6/5/07 | Staff

The Blogometer doesn't even need to look at the polls to tell who is currently ahead in NH. Judging by blog attacks, both anonymous and not, Mitt Romney is clearly the frontrunner in the Granite State.

Whether it's shots on Mormonism from Rudy Giuliani or questions on abortion from Sam Brownback, the GOP field is signaling all guns will be trained on Romney 6/5.

Will CNN's apparent preference for top-tier air time, will Romney benefit from more time to respond to opponent charges, or will John McCain and Giuliani shy away from challenging Romney head on?

The blogosphere is paying big attention to Romney. (Links above are attacks from familiar political blogs.)

See you at the debates tonight. Will you be watching?

Here is our “pro-life” hero just a few years ago. If this guy is the nominee I am out of the GOP.

Whatever Romeny's RINO faults, if he can drive McVain and Julie Ann off-stage, that's a good thing.

Once the two media-annointed front-runners are out of the way, the real issues will have to be discussed and Romney will either have to address specifics or be replaced by another front-runner.

His perfect hair is also worth an extra 3% of the vote from the mushy-middle soccer mom crowd.

Fred will be doing analysis for Fox! Should be interesting. As for Mitt, he’s a man of great integrity and decency, but I don’t think he’s tough enough to be President during war time. (For instance, I don’t think ‘talks with the enemy’ help matters. Fighting a PC war is insane and needlessly kills Americans, and I don’t see Mitt having the stomach to kill Jihadists in large numbers. No ‘highway of death’, for instance.

When he ran against Ted Kennedy some years ago...for Ted’s senate seat, we in MA knew he had the goods on Teddy, information that would have sunk Kennedy...and Mitt chose the high road, didn’t use the information, and lost. Who lost? Massachusetts voters, that’s who.) This election is vital to the nation’s survival, and we need a leader who’ll put that first. We don’t need a ‘nice guy’. We need a leader willing to make hard choices. (Certainly no democrat running fits that description.)

“As for Mitt, he’s a man of great integrity and decency...”

So decent up until he thought he saw an opening for him to run for president he was TOTALLY unwilling to fight for his “deeply” held personal convictions.

If that is decent I would hate to see what indecent is.

Romney is to Pro-life what black is to white.

Yeah, and in 1992 Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas beat the pack to win the New Hampshire primary.

Clinton just referred to it as a regional preference, and called himself the “comeback Kid.”

Romney, being from Massachusetts, may well be receiving the same benefit of name recognition, and hence does well in neighboring New Hampshire.

...all guns will be trained on Romney 6/5.

Which means if he handles it all well, he will be the center of attention in the media for the next several news cycles.

Excellent!

I completely agree. Romney is unacceptable. He’s a RINO and real conservatives need to become Brownbackers.

I applaud Brownback’s campaign for holding Romney accountable on abortion.
