Will Major Cities Simply Ignore Any New Immigration Rulings? (Alien Sanctuary Cities)

As Congress wrangles over immigration, the debate is moot in major cities across the country.

The reason: "Sanctuary" cities from Los Angeles to New York will never check a person's immigration status regardless of what Washington passes.

Consider Houston. Its police department's Web site is crystal clear -- in Spanish and English.

Can't the federal authorities do anything about these so-called "sanctuary cities" and their disregard for enforcing the laws? Any lawyers here?

Cut off ALL federal funding to those cities.

So here we are, 175 years later, and nullification is back.

John Calhoun is smiling.

Cut off their federal funding. Defiance of federal law is NOT a civil rights issue. If they want to provide haven and services to illegals, "sanctuary" cities should be entirely on their own and they should not rely on the taxpayers to bail them out for breaking the law.

I think they should be stripped of any homeland security money they may be getting. After all, if they’re a sanctuary for illegals, they’re a potential sanctuary for terrorists.

The POTUS gives the orders, and he is for open borders....nuff said.

I agree. Cut-off ALL the federal goodies and see how well the whole “Sanctuary City” shtick works.

Agreed. And since NY is a sanctuary city, lets REALLY piss off those self-important a-sholes by denying them federal aid until they repeal said policy.

Federal funding can be made conditional on enforcing federal laws.

That's how the way was cleared for military recruiters to visit anti-military campuses -- no recruiters allowed, no federal funds.

Bill Richardson ("No fence can stop history." "I am the only Hispanic running for president." [Mexican mother]) rules the sanctuary state of New Mexico aka Mexico del Norte from his sanctuary capital of Santa Fe which may hire 20 Mexican police officers.

You can't make this stuff up--but if you object, expect to be sued.

Remember, in Iowa, the head of the State Hispanic Affairs Commission travels around warning local governments and police departments that if they attempt to enforce existing immigration law the Democrat governor and Democrat state house and senate will assure there are "repercussions".

Cities provide more in tax revenue than do rural areas, not to mention states like California, Texas and New York. These areas also send more revenue than they take in from the feds. Cities often have to prioritize how they allocate resources and they simply choose not to spend resources doing immigration control. Rounding up 12 million illegals is just not going to happen, so its best to work on assimilating them or at least giving business and immigrant labor greater administrative leeway in contracting.

My first thought too.

Of course that would require much tougher leadership than our current elected “officials”.

But, OF COURSE! Aren't laws MADE to be broken as this current "legislation" suggests?

This is bull. So called "sanctuary cities" actively prevent city officials, including police officers, from cooperating with Federal officials. This is what Guiliani did in NY. The Federal Courts ruled that this was not legal. The Federal Court in California also ruled that, pursuant to Federal statute, local officials were required to assist in enforcing the Federal law against giving welfare to illegals. These cities defy Federal law and Courts to pursue their own liberal agendas. A cut off of Federal funds would seem most appropriate.

.

When dealing with a federal, state, local goverment or agency & politicians and bureaucrats - Say the IRS and others - and local corrupt employers of illegal aliens - and “sanctuary cities” and illegal aliens -

Simply use their own methods - ignore “unimportant laws & taxes”

Use the business and tax methods that illegal aliens do -

And that the Bush-IRS & SS does

- “We ‘can’t’.....”

- “We ‘can’t’ either.....!”

If and when “they” come for you

Go to a “sanctuary city”

Say “No compredo!”

-

Bush-Kennedy-Kyl-McCain is pardoning 12 (really over 20) million criminals

And the Republicans in Congress were upset about Slick Willie pardoning Marc Rich? Big deal!

-

The IRS still can track income tax evaders - but not if they “No comprede!” ???

-

Adios Jorge!

John C. Calhoun, my Jo John, when one term shall expire,
He'll drop the reins of power and with dignity retire,
To look upon a smiling land that he has rendered so,
And every Whig will cry AMEN! John C. Calhoun, my Jo.

Great stuff.

Sanctuary cities will not be cut-off if President Smirk has anything to say about it. The Smirk administration is encouraging illegals and civil unrest so it can reach a point where bringing in UN peace keeping forces is the only way to control it ala North American Union police state.
