I never watched his TV show so I only know him from FR. I watched him on Hannity last night and I really liked what I heard. The man has powerful appeal.

Fred has the kind of voice that when you hear it, you stop and listen. It is commanding, yet soothing. It is “fatherly” without being threatening. It engenders confidence in the listener. I think that is what has made him a good actor. He is cast in leadership roles in television and movies because of this voice. I also think he will make him a winner in 2008. The 40% in the mushy middle by in large vote for the person that appeals to them the most on a personal level. Fred will win that battle hands down against any opponent on his right or left. Literally and figuratively speaking, he fits the role of President. If he wins and surrounds himself with a good cabinet, he will be a most beloved and respected President.

According to Dimocrat math 51% is a landslide...a mandate...so far Fred looks like he is doing just fine.

I think I am becoming a FREDHEAD

When they see him, they’ll go...”Oh! That guy!” and try to rememeber what they saw him in. Hey! Is that Gene Hackman?

Thompson shows how much folks dislike the Republican candidates. He isn’t even running and most Thompson backers i’ve met don’t even know what he stands for and still prefer him over RINO Rudy, Crazy John, and Flip-Flopping Mitt.

True, they will have some familiarity with him, but then all he has to do is get attention long enough to hear him speak.
I think he is a compelling person with his arguments and is a great communicator.

He’s the guy IMO.

I think he probably is too. Way back when, I heard Romney on a radio interview, and looked him up. I considered him a formidable candidate based on the interview, and I think I was correct.

Even so I've always maintained that I didn't believe the eventual nominee was in the race yet. I felt we didn't know who he was yet. Maybe I was just being an optimist that the ones everyone WAS talking about were destined to fail.

Anyway, when Fredmania started percolating, I thought this must be him. He hasn't totally wowed me as a speechafier, but he does have a lot of excellent commincation skills. Obviously. It looks like it comes down to Romney and Fred. I don't even take Rudy seriously, and the others aren't even worth mentioning. That includes Newt.

I think Thompson is sharpening his skill sets and preparing his way for a run he originally never considered taking.

I think most all of the folks you see running dreamed about it for years if not decades.
I think Fred kind of realized this was an opportunity he saw coming at him and he feels he can really do a good job, so he is in.

I’m glad he is going in, but I pray the man not travel to many places like Israel where he would be target #1 by terrorist who would prefer to see a Hillary win.

That may be, but most of those who don’t know his name will recognize him when they see him.

That doesn't matter. What DOES matter is what time Oprah comes on, if our favorite sports teams are winning, and where is the next party.

C'mon, get with the picture.

I have to admit I tuned out after a little while. I ended up watching a few Reagan speeches. I watched his “Tear down the wall” speech and got chills/misty. I watched his farewell address from the oval office. Holy guacamole. There is nobody anywhere that can be compared to Ronald Reagan as a communicator. Fred beats the field, but he’d be shining RR’s shoes.

You have to remember that the platform for such legendary statements rarely come about.
Also keep in mind that it was not only Reagan, but John Paul 2 and Margaret Thatcher and it was the three of them that ended communism at that time.

Thompson is lighting fires out there and nobody needs to expect him to be a Reagan, let him live with being Fred. I think that is more than enough based on what he has been saying.

Agincourt, there's a message for you on the Florida Chapters forum.

A couple of us want to be FRedheads if you're getting a volunteer group of freepers together.

In case anyone forgets, Florida is the home of the FReeper Air Force, the FReeper Navy.....and the Florida Freeper Amazon Brigade (the instant-reaction Swat(ette) Team of the Sunshine State).

GO FRED!

Is that a paraphrase on Thompson’s quote?
