This newly released survey summarizes the charisma and the potential of Fred Thompson's candidacy. Virtually half of the universe of registered voters in the nation have not heard of him (only 51% have heard of Thompson), yet in some polls such as Rasmussen he is now only trailing Rudolph Giuliani nationally by 6%, even with this handicap of low name recognition.

As time goes on more and more votes get to know him Thompson has a good chance of becoming the nominee who will defeat Democrats (again) in 2008.

That may be, but most of those who don’t know his name will recognize him when they see him.

That doesn't matter. What DOES matter is what time Oprah comes on, if our favorite sports teams are winning, and where is the next party.

And I imagine the only reason a good portion of that 51% know him is because they stayed glued to their TV sets watching mindless drivel like Law & Order instead of gaining an understanding of what this nation was intended to be and what the politicians were intended to do. This is evidenced by the fact that the overwhelming majority of the Republican candidates spew on about ID cards, healthcare, taking away more of our freedoms in the name of 'safety', and the public cheers them on. The mindless sheep don't want to hear about specifics on cutting government, they want a candidate that makes them 'feel' good. Who the hell cares what direction what's left of the Republic is actually going?

Welcome to the new 'America'. We don't care what you say as long as you have the right letter by your name giving us a warm fuzzy feeling and we'll vote for you.
