WASHINGTON — High drama is playing out in the House of Representatives amid a growing political furor over the launch of an official ethics probe into Rep. William Jefferson, the Louisiana Democrat charged with federal corruption charges.

The House voted overwhelmingly Tuesday night — 373-23, with 13 voting "present" — to require the House ethics committee to begin an investigative subcommittee to look into Jefferson's dealings. Twenty House members did not vote.

The House also voted to approve a Democrat-sponsored resolution requiring an investigative subcommittee any time a House member is indicted or charged with a crime. That measure passed by a vote of 387-10.

All Republican Members of Congress with a 'RAT County Prosecutor, DA, AG, etc. in their district should have voted against this. It is now open season on Republican Members of Congress Coast to Coast.

I wonder who the ones were who voted NO or PRESENT?

Let me guess. The entire Black Congressional Congress?

And a smattering of other out of touch white liberals who think that this investigation is nothing but a stunt by “The Man” to oppress a black man.

If William Jefferson were a Republican, he would have been gone LONG ago.

But he’s not, and he is still here.

Hopefully Jefferson will spill his guts for a lighter sentence. Compared to some of colleagues, Jefferson’s a piker.

This AP article asserts that no Member of Congress has been expelled, unless "convicted of a crime." This is flat-out false. Adam Clayton Powell was expelled without that. There were two Socialists who were elected during the '30s, and expelled for political reason.

Now, socialists are welcomed in the leadership of the House on the Democrat side. How times have changed. Still, the AP reporter did his/her job incompetently.

I’ll just BET Conyers voted “no.” A little too close to home, huh, Johnnie?

The way House Ethics works, I’m surprised they didn’t wait till after his trial to start the House investigation.

I heard that he’s all upset at Fox news because when they ran the story yesterday, they accidentally used Conyer’s file footage instead of Jefferson’s. It’s all a big racist thing, you know.

Well I don't know about the others but Doolittle is under investigation also. Could be he doesn't want to set a precedent!
