You need to update your world-view pal.

So now it's okay to preemptively use WMD's to stop another country from developing WMDs?

Lets review what this nation states as its agenda
Commandant of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, said on state television. “God willing, the 21st century will see the defeat of the U.S. and the Zionists, and the victory of freedom-seeking nations of the world. The final goal of the [1979] revolution is to create global Islamic rule and a regime of law to be led by the Imam Mahdi”.

The [Iranians] President’s chief strategist, Hassan Abbassi, has come up with a war plan based on the premise that “Britain is the mother of all evils” – the evils being America, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, the Gulf states and even Canada, all of whom are the malign progeny of the British Empire. “We have a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization,” says Mr Abbassi. “There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S. and in the West. We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are going to attack them… Once we have defeated the Anglo-Saxons the rest will run for cover.”

The IRGC chief warned that Iran was seeing through “critical days” and “fate-determining years”. He described the purpose of Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution as the “Salvation of Muslims” from the hands of the “oppressive U.S. and Israel”.

So yes, it's "okay" to prevent such a nation from getting the means to annilihate us.

Why is it ok to let them nuke us?

The same kind of rhetoric came out of the Soviet Union - yet it was the avowed policy of the US to not use nuclear weapons unless we were first attacked.

We cannot afford to abandon that policy.

Republican presidential candidates would not rule out tactical nuclear strikes to stop Iran

Iran is going to work extra hard helping Democrat presidential candidates get elected.

"What the heck happened to the Republican party?"

Maybe the GOP agrees with Cindy Sheehan?

You’re wrong.

The Soviet Union were rationalists not death cult religious fanatics.

You dont understand Iran at all do you?

You say “what happened to the GOP”.. I say “what happened to education” that ignorant people speak with such arrogance about things they know nothing about.

“...that we would never, ever be the first to take a conflict nuclear.”

The Soviet Union used to swear up and down that they would never be the first to use nuclear weapons in a war.

Of course, since we used them in 1945 they were absolved of any guilt and were going to use them “liberally” on western Europe whenever it suited them.

You do what you have to do to defend your people and national interests. The President’s primary constituency are the citizens of the United States.

This isn't Australia developing nukes, this is islamunists building bombs. This is the regime that was born out of violating international law, or don't you remember the hostages they took from our embassy?

The leader they have today is even more stupid than Khomeini was. He's already promised the destruction of Israel, and you can bet he'd love to do the same to us. Read my tagline if you want to see what we have to do to win the war against radical islam.

Using tactical nukes pre-emptively when we are under no direct threat is not only immoral but outright insane. It would not only alienate us completely from all of our allies, but provide the ultimate fuel for future blowback, and at best would only set the Iranian nuke program back 2 years. Stupid idea not even worth considering.

"You withdraw to the borders and watch genocide take place inside Baghdad," said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)

OK, ragheads killing ragheads, instead of Americans. No problem.

"You watch the destabilization of Jordan."

Again, another raghead islammunist regime getting what it should have gotten the last Crusade.

" You see further jeopardy of Israel because of the threats of Hezbollah and Iranian hegemony in the region."

OK, maybe Israel elects leadership to deal with this, and wipes all the palis out of Gaza and the West Bank.

It's not a matter of if this happens, it's just a matter of when.

It’s important to know who we’re dealing with in Iran..

We’re dealing with “Twelevers” (that’s the name of the branch Shia Islam).

Twelevers believe the Mahdi (The Islamic Messiah that all Muslims belive in) is hiding in a well in Iran and that once the world is plunged into chaos and destruction, the Mahdi will appear and bring justice and Allah’s law all over the earth.

At the UN Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on Allah to send down the Hidden Imam, or the Mahdi, who Shiites believe will come at the end of time. “I emphatically declare that today’s world, more than ever before ... longs for the perfect righteous human being and the real savior who has been promised ...” said Ahmadinejad. “Oh, almighty God ... Bestow upon humanity ... the perfect human being promised to all by you.”

Mahmoud believes he can bring the Mahdi to manifest if he causes nuclear war and the destruction of Israel.

What you have to say about that Jude? Did the Soviet Union hold to that view too?

You’re another who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

We’re under existential threat.

Meh, preemptive nuclear strikes do not bother me if invoked in the face of "mere" threats. If things get rough, I wouldn't rule out holding Mecca and Medina as "nuclear hostages", and flattening them outright if such action is earned. War isn't the worst of things, and neither is annihilation of external threats to our liberty. I understand Ron Paul has moral hang-ups with the notions of collateral damage and initiation of force - philosophically, he is on solid ground. However, in reality, we have imperfect information, and, IMO, it is immoral to not err on the side of self-preservation, even if the principle of non-initiation of force needs to be revoked in select circumstances. Collateral damage is morally trickier...

What bothers me is Fruity's pimping of nation building, and McInsane's pimping of BJ Clinton's war in Kosovo (not to convey any love of Slobodan Milosevic). Those two seem to be Wilsonians of the highest order, never met an interventionist foreign adventure they didn't like. Fruity previously went off describing some new federal monstrosity he would like to see, something which would be accurately described as the Department of Nation Building (in his words, a federal department that would look like a hybrid between the DoD, Department of Homeland Security, and the State Department). And then we had McInsane saying that America needs a 2nd UN, a "League of Democracies" to spread freedumb throughout the world, deal with climate change, etc.

“Mahmoud believes he can bring the Mahdi to manifest if he causes nuclear war and the destruction of Israel.”

It almost sounds like you believe it yourself.

Does it count if the nuclear war only causes the destruction of Iran? Or should we just let them develop a workable nuclear weapon so they can use it when and where they choose?

I really think “go ahead and nuke us” is a little farther down the path than “please don’t throw me in the briar patch!”

I believe he believes it. When someone says they want to kill you, believe them. That’s the lesson of the Holocaust.

I don’t understand the rest of what you’re saying.
