Nightmare Scenario for the Clinton Campaign
Townhall.com ^ | June 6, 2007 | Rich Galen

The USA Today/Gallup poll released yesterday morning showed - for the first time - that Barack Obama has pulled ahead of Hillary Clinton in a national survey.

The numbers were: Obama 30%, Clinton 29%.

According to USA Today's Susan Page: "The survey of 310 Democrats and 160 independents who 'lean' Democratic, taken Friday through Sunday, has a margin of error of +/- 5 percentage points" which means that Hillary might be ahead by as many as nine percentage points, or she might be as far behind as 11.

Statistically insignificant as the Obama lead might be, it is exactly what the Clinton campaign has been trying to avoid since the polls closed last November 7 and the Clinton Senate re-election campaign became the Clinton Presidential campaign. The watchword of the Clinton campaign has been "inevitability."

The media will soon attack him as “unqualified for President due to a lack of experience”. Hillary is putting together her media allies. When that is complete, they will do what the Clinton WH did: fax stories to their reporters.

Calling him unqualified will make her look like the realistic choice and will make him available for VP.

The big question mark is Gore. He could really make a mess by joining the squabble. By Hillary’s definition, he is the best qualified.

Dear Sen. Obama,

You are cordially invited to a party in your honor to be given at Ft. Marcy Park, the evening of June 22 at 10 p.m.

Sorry for the late timing, what with the busy campaign schedules, so please dress casual........

Sincerely,
H!

Nah, the real nightmare scenario is if Gore runs, particularly third party.

I’m hoping to see the Witch forced out of the shadows in her battle with Obama. I’d love to see her clearly tagged as being the one to stop the presidential candidacy of the most viable black to run for the office in the country’s history.

OK, so basic statistics say that less than 1/3 of the RATitos like Obama, less than 1/3 like sHillary and that leaves over 40% who want someone else?

Obamallary had better look around, they both got bigger problmes than each other, no?

Clinton campaign will get busy leaking raw FBI files on Obama to the press. (Hill will be out of town and blameless.)

For over two years I’ve said Hillary Clinton wouldn’t be in the primaries because of her woefully inadequate political skills, if you can call them that. I’ve noted the historical record high ‘negative numbers’ and that each time she gives a substantive speech, those negative numbers move ever higher.

I’ve also noted she simply isn’t a dynamic speaker, not even close. She has dry monotone that puts you to sleep and SCREECH MODE. Thats it.

I suspect by the end of the year she withdraws for some vague ‘personal reason’, realizing its better to withdraw having not lost ala Kerry or Gore, and play ‘kingmaker’.

I know she won’t win the nomination under any circumstances. Democrats are quite insane these days politically, but they aren’t suicidal.

They learned in 04 that a campaign based on ‘Anybody but...’ was incredibly stupid. They won’t make the same basic mistake again.
