Bad things happen to good people all the time.

Just as fastening a seat belt is not a guarantee of surviving a vehicle accident, so too exercising awareness will not defeat every attack.

As for the keys; if an attacker is forcing you into your car, it would be best that nobody be able to drive that car. It only takes a fraction of a second to toss the keys. It creates a significant burden on the attacker if the intention is to use the car.

The statistics of abduction seem to indicate quite clearly that there is virtually no price too high to pay in order to prevent being transported from the scene of the abduction. Anything bad that is going to happen will not be improved by allowing the attacker the freedom to choose the site for continuing the attack.

That makes sense with the keys. I guess I am just showing the lack of my ability to defend myself in an instance such as this. Maybe I’ll take a self defense class with my daughter. She’s still pretty young but it wouldn’t hurt to start.
